a lot of people seem to think we were caught inadequately
prepared for something that was a known threat. I believe you and I
agree that local, regional, state and national government should all
have done better at anticipating and responding.

I also think a lot of individuals did really well in the response.

Finally, when and how to protect our country and planet, whether from
warring nations, terrorism, global climate change or other possible
threats, is not a partisan issue. Our security depends on input from
people with specific knowledge and discussion by everyone. Whenever
citizens have different perspectives, as we often do, discussion can
help work out the differences or at least bring some amount of
understanding when folks truly want to share. Of course we'll also hear
some very one sided grousing (from all sides). Some of which may even be
partially correct.

You're free, as are we all, to disagree with any particular point. But
when you ask people not to be partisan and then end with a very partisan
talking point...that's, at best, incongruous.

Cheers,

had a few pet saga's on the group over time, so I thought I'd post
a little tribute.

Molly was a German Shepard / Elsasion. She was named Molly after (homosecual)
Australian music personality Molly Meldrum, due to the fact that in her first
few weeks everybody called her "him". ;o) She loved more than anything to
play fetch. Mum brought her home in 1993, and I lived with Molly and Mum
until 1998 when I bought a Paris system and moved out so I would have enough
space to make proper use of it. ;o) It took her about a day to work out how
to play fetch, and she became known as an obsessive fan of the game. ;o)
Indeed, over time, she gained the attention of many a passer by by picking
up logs up to maybe 12 feet long, and sometimes 6 inches or more diameter...
she could literally pick up a wooden railway sleeper and carry it along
like it was nothing, despite her reasonably slender build for the breed.

She was always incredibly obedient, understanding, for example, that she
wasn't allowed on the carpet of this house, but was in that house. You could
walk her without a lead and she would wait by the kerb until you said she
could cross the road. She would sit, drop, and roll over on command, and
wouldn't eat until she was told she could. You could take her to the shops
and tell her to stay and know she'd be waiting out the front when you got
back. Yes, I know that sounds a little irresponsible, but she was just that
well behaved that you knew she'd be fine.

Molly has the spirit of a pup until the very end. She was always bouncy and
alive and wanting to play fetch. ;o) In the end her back end went, and she
couldn't stand and had no bladder control, but on the last day my brother
and I went to visit, when she saw me, she growled. I knew something was wrong
because she'd never growled at me. Then I realised she wasn't growling at
me, but at the fact that she couldn't move. She couldn't move and she desperately
wanted to get up and play. She was on quarterzone though, and her adrenaline
kicked in, and a few seconds later she stood up. She stood up, had a pat,
and searched the back yard and came back with a ball, put it down in front
of me, looked up at me panting, and glanced between me and the ball. ;o)

That was pretty much the last time she was able to move around properly.
I'm a little sad I didn't think it was a good idea to throw the ball for
her.

Molly was put to rest Monday last week. She'll be remembered for being a
legend. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.(I think it's better toserve this here and not in any asshole messages, so
sorry for the twice serving;-))

Good to see someone take care about all this idiotic hatemailings that have
showes up here lately. No one can help what has happened and is happening in
New Orleans right now. The only thing is to hope that the people of America
and the American Gouvernment now have learned something for the future,
that the infrastructure and weather in a country have more importance than
all wars for riches and oil, just to take care of the ultra high standards
of living in som

e places in the world like America and have will to do
something with it.
I saw a documentation program yesterday in Norwegian TV that showed up how
USA now are trying to take control over the oil from WestAfrica, just to see
that China are trying the same thing. China needs the oil to start up all
their big "wheels" and USA needs the oil to get their "old wheels" spin some
rounds more. It was not good to see for the Kyoto deal and for the future of
the earth at all.

Sheesh, and here I thought that we were all americans. Seems like
