Yep, that's what I'm using on my laptop and on my "big" production system
where I layer Synful on top of QLSO. It sounds great! Especially amazing
because it's so small. The other library I tend to use a lot is Kirk

I have the MOTU Symphonic Instrument and if anyone wants it, they
can have it for $200 - it's just not really my cup o' tea.

GPO is great for quick arrangements. It's very easy to use and fairly is
a complete set of sounds. This East West QLSO o the MOTU one are great
all in one setups. At this point I wouldn't recommend Giga to my worst
enemy :)
There a tons of VSTi available that offer a great set of sound that
integrate better with sequencing software and that are easier to use and
come with a better set of sounds than Giga.

I got an estimate from a technician to make it. The cost for the hourly wage
and parts is over $100.00 I did se an S-760 sampler with mouse on E-Bay that
is at $35.00 right now. Maybe I'll bid on it and if I win, I can always re-sell
the sampler on E-Bay w/o the mouse.

Hi Steve,
Ya, what's proprietary about it is the wiring to the jack and the =
special
Roland pricing. I have two of them and except for the jack there's
nothing different about it's behavior.=20

I'll look in the manual for the wiring if you want to pay somebody to =
set=20
up the jack correctly. If the info is there that shouldb't cost you =
more
than $25 in the right tech's hands.

I'll go look and post later.
Tom

Hi Steve,
The manual had the pin outs for the RGB video display but not the mouse.
I now understand that it is a MSX Computer mouse. You might try and =
Google
that. I guess they were popular in Europe.

This guy might still be selling the converted PS2 to MSX :
http://perso.wanadoo.es/replay/nice.htm

I found this if your tech is willing to do it:
http://home.pages.at/pullrich/mousecon.htm

Below are all kinds of links that might prove to be fruitful:

a..=20
1.. Q: Can I use a standard PC mouse with a Roland sampler?=20
2.. A: The Roland sampler's mouse uses different wiring to both the =
PS/2 mouse and serial mouse common on PCs. The Roland sampler's mouse is =
a standard MSX computer mouse. More detailed information on this topic, =
along some how to convert signals from the Atari mouse and the Amiga =
mouse is available at:=20
http://home.pages.at/pullrich/mu1mouse.htm=20
and information on a converter to aloow the use of a PS/2 mouse is at: =

http://home.pages.at/pullrich/mousecon.htm=20
Details (apparently in Portuguese) on converting PS/2 mouse signals to =
MSX are at:=20
http://www.vespanet.com.br/~manuxcritos/psIImouse.htm=20

Good luck, Tom

Hi Steve,
Ya, what's proprietary about it is the wiring to the jack and the =
special
Roland pricing. I have two of them and except for the jack there's
nothing different about it's behavior.=20

I'll look in the manual for the wiring if you want to pay somebody to =
set=20
up the jack correctly. If the info is there that shouldb't cost you =
more
than $25 in the right tech's hands.

I'll go look and post later.
Tom

Tom, It's not a standard 2 button mouse. I did call them today. They =
said
$94.00 pal and it's yours. It's a special proprietary mouse.

For less than this $2k difference added to the PC
you could upgrade to dual quad XEON CPU's, more and faster memory that would
have the PC running circles around the Mac.

I'm not trying to bash Macs here James (like I usually do ;o) I'm just
trying to see what the justification might be for paying almost twice the
price for a Mac when I could build a faster PC in about a day..........a
goodly part of which time could be spent doing other things while formatting
all of the drives and loading the OS.

I'm sorry man. The priviledge of using the MacOS just isn't worth $2k + to
me so the Mac pricing still doesn't come close to anything I would want to
get involved with..................even if it can run Windows

;o)
