Future proof for a little while anyway. Seems way to iffy to me.

By the way, Martin - the three objections so far seem to be 1) =
size of box, 2) keying of slots and 3) power supply.
You took care of the box size question. Here's a picture of the =
inside of one of their regular boxes, showing the keying of the slots - =

And here's an EDS showing its keying (it's the wrong =
orientation, but it should be easy to match up) -
That is the RIGHT keying for an EDS!=20
http://www.synrise.de/images/ensoniq-eds-1000.jpg
So those look pretty good to go, at least to me.=20
In my email to them I'm addressing the third - what's the =
equivalent wattage of their PSU and would they have any interest in =
making one with a PSU that made PARIS happy?
For that matter, I wonder if they're just standard PC PSUs, =
meaning they could be swapped out for what you like.

(I was running two G450's on the P4p800s, but these cards had
issues when shifting windows across the four screens.
Playback would stop).
Can't understand why you would want to use SCSI, though.
Do yourself a favour... pull the drives and card, and buy yourself a
7200rpm IDE drive. Any cheap-ass 7200rpm drive
for around 50 bucks would give you enough throughput for 64 tracks.

Marknot without the filter, and i don't think it's worth it to bother carrying

I'm running out of ideas fast .. I really don't want to ditch my scsi drives
as I have 4 or 5 drives which I use for backup and remember doing comparisons
with ide when I first got scsi drives and felt they performed significantly
better (maybe in my head) Do I just stick with my working dinosaur PIII?
the whole thing is driving me nuts and I've never had major issues with Paris
before in 7 years of using it .. so much for my cheap and easy upgrade.
Any further wisdom or light bulbs would sure improve my weekend.

>DavidDoes somebody want to post some presets for Mike`s effects?Hi Warren,
I haven't read every post in your thread, so I apologize if you've already
tried these things.
Try disabling direct x by manually editing the paris.cfg file by adding the
line:
DisableDirectX=1
Make sure that you do not have a default project in your Paris directory.
make sure that your VST directory is pointed to a directory with no VST plugins
in it. The following line is in the paris.cfg file:
VSTDirectory=C:\vst\
Make sure that the effects updates, the PACE update, and everything else
involved in getting PARIS to work in XP has been followed to the letter.
The only times I have ever gotten an unhanded exception error when starting
PARIS is when I have had a bad DX, VST or EDS plugin installed.
You could also try installing PARIS 2.0 to see if this is a PACE issue.
Good luck!
MikeMike,
Thanks for that, I haven't tried any of those options. I've been doing fresh
installs each time so the only plugins installed are the default Paris ones
so, unlikely?
I'll give your suggestions a try and see what happens, after that I've run
out of options. I do have another version of XP I will try not that I see
that making any difference.
Thanks again,
Warren

Thanks for trying to help. Here is some more information that I should have

>If you don't have the Sarahtonin "Wayward" CD, here's an opportunity to buy
one and do some good for someone besides me.
Guitarist/songwriter Duane Jarvis (some of you Portland folks may know) was
something of a local star in the thriving Portland original music scene of
the '80s. He subsequently moved to Nashville and worked with some famous
people, like John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Frank Black, Dwight Yoakum, and
others, even a stint with the Divinyls.
Anyway, Duane's been diagnosed with cancer, so some of his friends have
organized a benefit concert here in Portland at the Wonder Ballroom (nice
place) this thursday. They're calling it HOME (help offset medical
expenses) for Duane Jarvis, because it's kind of a homecoming/reunion show.
Here's the 'ficial website http://homeforduanejarvis.com/
Duane's MySpace page is http://www.myspace.com/DuaneJarvis
I'm getting a $30 ticket, but I can't really make it to the concert/party
due to work. I have, however, put an announcement on the "Wayward" page of
our website that any CD sales between now and labor day will be donated to
Duane's medical fund. www.sarahton

port.
Strip it down to the absolute bare necessities. Check the hardware list once
you've done this to make sure again that there is no IRQ sharing. if it is,
move the EDS to another PCI slot.
Also, when you install Paris, make it go to C:\Paris and also when putting
the XP drivers in make sure they do the same... by default they do NOT. Pay
close attention to this.
G'luck, report back.

But only after 3 bids and 6-9 months of red tape.

>I was orginaly turned on by the DSP card concept, but when I heard of compat
problems, problems with multi-cards and the like...It just turned me off
of the DSP _Dongle concept.
Plus, the card is is still the same (Power)as the orginal. Users have been
asking to run plugins, but UAD just keep making more plugins (Which is cool)
...
But, as PICe slots are srinking, more DSP power is needed..For sure..
Lastly, with Quad, 8 & 16 core processors, a dongle based Plugin format becomes
mute.
I think both Digidesign and UAD will have to "honestly" address this problem(if
having 8, 16 cores processor) is a problem..
