Lastly, for me my desktop at work is an XP box but everything I code I put
on a linux/perl/apache box, so I can write all of that in it's native environment
and just copy it over to the right folders on the web server and it's done.

To catch you up on some of the nameless folk in the AES pictures, in
the shot with Gene Lennon is John Roper. In the shot with Morgan, TCB,
and a little piece of me (I take several shots to complete) is Delon
Dotson and Chris Ludwig. Finally, the two fellas in the shot with me
are Brian Porick and Kerry Hays.

Also, I mention here that Sakis and I have the same birth date, so we
call each other brother. However, while he got all the looks, I got
the flair for loud shirts!

That's a good question. VirtualBox and VMWare support USB devices. I never
thought about that much because my printers are all network printers, and
I don't have a scanner anymore :-)

You can share the printer on the physical machine and connect to it from
the VM, but I don't know what to do about a scanner.

Thank you much.

OK, then... here it is:

http://saqqararecords.com/MiscAudio/SedationClip-basictrax.m p3

This is NOT mixed, these are just basic tracks, with a couple
of minor tweaks. This clip isn't too long (less than 2 minutes,
IIRC) here's the signal chain rundown:

Drums were my Yammy Kit, and we opted for the Joey Jordisson
model snare mic'ed with...
Kick = Audix D6/Chandler TG2
Snare = Audix D5/Chandler TG2
Hat = Earthworks TC30/Focusrite ISA 428
Toms = Audix D4's/MOTU 8Pre
OH's = B.L.U.E. Bluebirds/Mucusrite ISA 428

Bass was a Spector 4 string with EMG P'ups through an Ampeg
SVT-450 with the classic Ampeg 8x10 cab; mic'ed as follows:

Topmost right side speaker = Rode K2/Avalon 737SP
(6db boost at 3k & 10k on the Avalon, no compression going in)
Left speaker 1 row down from the top = TLM-103/Focusrite ISA 428

Guitar was my Epi Les Paul Standard through the following
configurations:
1st Pass.. y-split into two separate amps...
* Randall solid-state head into Randall 4x12 cab, mic'ed with:
Bottom left speaker = SM-57/Great River MP2NV, xfrmrs loaded
Bottom Right speaker = B.L.U.E. Ball/Grace 101

* My Line6 SpiderII 1x12 Combo set on standard "Crunch" model,
mic'ed with:
Audix i5/Focusrite Red8
Sennheiser e609 Silver/Great River MP2NV, transformers loaded

2nd pass (doubling the first pass) was my Sovtek 50W Tube Midget
head into a Celestion 2x12 cab, mic'ed with:
Audix i5/Focusrite Red8
B.L.U.E. Ball/Grace 101

Everything went straight into the analog in's on my main RME
Multiface except for the ISA 428, which I have the digi i/o
card for, and so that went into the lightpipe in's on the main
Multiface, and for the MOTU 8-Pre I used the lightpipe out into
the 2nd Multiface.

What you're hearing on the tracks as far as processing goes is:
Kick = some multiband comp, no EQ of any kind
Snare = Paris VST EQ... a little 5k & 10k boost
Toms = Paris VST EQ... a bit of a 7k boost
Guitars = Cut about 7db @ 100hz on the 2 Randall cab channels

That's it! Everything else is just as it went to track.

Enjoy.

Neilchuck,

Thanks for the reply. I'll give one of the other two a try on the USB
side. I've gotten into this whole "get rid of the file cabinet and
image it all" thing, so I am constantly needed access to my scanner.

usually answer one of three ways:

1. Uh . . . rock, I guess?

2. Neo-psychedelic hard jazzy new age folk rock show tunes

3. I have no idea.

I could say "eclectic," but that's about as helpful as "I have no idea."

Maybe it's children's music. My doctor, my neice, and my co-producer all
have grade schoolers who are fans. :)

A religion worthy of freedom would increase individual freedom.

With freedom comes increased responsibility; with increased
responsibility comes increased freedom. By increasing freedoms for all
one's own freedoms are increased.

Constant willingness to fight back is the price of freedom.

cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every
man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or

>Bill, I have no problem with freedom, you infidel :-) I am a
constitutionalist and believe strongly in the 1st amendment. Unfortunately
the radical Islamic doesn't cherish those same freedoms you and I hold
dearly. They are willing to die to impose their fascism and intolerant
theocratic rubbish upon us.

Remember Waco. The ATF, under the administration of Clinton and Janet
Sterno, stormed the Branch Davidian home, in Rambo fashion, to serve a
search warrant issued on the suspicion that the group was stockpiling
automatic weapons, massacring almost 100 hundred men, women, and children.
But I doubt that the FBI or ATF would ever raid these holy men, oh God no,
despite the fact that they are irrefutably armed to the teeth and practicing
for violent Jihad.

Did you read the article dude? Did you read the part about the violent
incidents involving Jamaat Ul Fuora in the US?
"By 2004 federal investigators uncovered evidence that linked both the DC
"sniper killer" John Allen Muhammed and "Shoe Bomber" Richard Reid to the
group and reports surfaced that Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl
was captured and beheaded in the process of attempting to obtain an
interview with Sheikh Gilani in Pakistan."

http://www.canadafreepress.com/images/paul-williams-map-larg e.jpg

What were Koresh and the Davidians guilty of? Maybe of being Christians.
Nothing compared to this group. Wake up man, this is not about freedom of
religion this is about a Jihad threatening our existence and the choice to
exercise any freedoms let alone freedom of religion. We had better keep an
eye on these guys.

Personally I use Gnome as my desktop, but KDE is the 'power user' windowing
app, and the one Linus uses so you're already more hip than me. It has more
options and such, but the basics will be obvious from the get go. I think
most people use Konqueror as their 'do everything' app, file browsing, web
browsing, and so on.

Linux geeks sort of pride themselves on just how old and clunky their hardware
is. For years my router/firewall was a Red Hat 6.1 box that was my recycled
first PARIS machine. 400 Mhz Celeron with 128 MB of RAM. These days with
electricity costing what it does having a half dozen doorstop machines lying
about doing small jobs gets pretty expensive on a monthly basis, so we're
all starting to brag about how virtualized we're getting ;-)

If you have any questions, take my initials (i.e. my sig) and stick thadbrown
and then that top level domain calling card of com after it and email me.
That said, I don't think you'll have any problems.

Oh, and all of your config files are in /etc. You'll spend some time there
if you want to tweak . . .

>No, Sarah this doesn't surprise me. Wasn't the prior administration treating
Terrorism as an "International Criminal Problem"? That did leagues to stem
the tide of extremism. Iraq is the tinder box for terrorism at the moment.
If we leave without a clear strategy and resolution, there is no doubt that
it will embolden the enemy with dire consequences both there, elsewhere in
the Islamic world and here as well.

I'm reading a book right now titled, "Human Rights Abuses In Iraq",
published by Human Rights Watch, prior to our invasion and when Sadam was in
power. Believe me when I say Iraq now is a utopia compared to what it was
before, (tongue firmly planted in cheek). Seriously, you can't believe the
stuff that was going on there.

I believe Blair was right in saying history would forgive us even if no
weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq.
"If we are wrong, we will have destroyed a threat that at its least is
responsible for inhuman carnage and suffering. That is something I am
confident history will forgive," "But if our critics are wrong... and we do
not act, then we will have hesitated in the face of this menace when we
should have given leadership. That is something history will not forgive.

The SEC, by the way, is one of the handful of government agencies that actually
works. Big market moves are always scrutinized carefully, especially short
sellers who have a rep (undeserved in my opinion) for being shadier than
the long guys.

Here's a little something to think about.

http://www.serendipity.li/waco/moore1.html

One of my good friends went to high school with Vernon Howell (a/k/a David
Koresh). My friend was a great guitar player, and Vernon was always hanging
out with him trying to cop some licks. They weren't really good friends or
anything but fairly well acquainted and my friend said that he wasn't some
demonic wanker or anything like that.

there's lots of wacko's in Waco.......it's home to Baylor University and
Jessica/Ashley Simpson fer chrissake!!! Some of my family members attended
Baylor and they are now liberal Democrat lawyers so I can attest to the
wacko factor.

Now if a bunch of guys came up to your door in black stormtrooper uniforms
and the first thing they did was shoot your dog, and the second thing they
did was shoot you and a member of your family........would you be disposed
to just let them in?

Not me dude.

Regards,

Deej

a nForce3-based motherboard. No ATI chips in sight.

I think I found the answer. I had installed the drivers for the UAD-1
card, but I had pulled out the card prior in order to do some debugging
and never put it back in.

When I uninstalled these drivers, everything seemed a bit happier.

Just discovered this a couple of minutes ago, and Paris is no longer
sucking the CPU dry of cycles.

Thanks Dimitrios and DJ.

I was hoping it would maybe clean out my ears and get rid of that ringing
sound, but no luck.Bush and his oil buddies won't like this!

Oh yeah, and that's why both Bushe brothers continually
veto the building of new oil platforms...

And this guy has a long way to go before his idea is credible.
Blaming it on egos is a bad start....
Money to finance his research would not be hard to find if it
shows real promise.

He has not spoken of how much hydrogen his device puts out,
and remember, it is only 40% as powerful as gasoline per volume
so your car will lose a lot of its power. Remember also, this
weaker car now has to pull you and your family up the hill to
Las Vegas... Can it produce enough hydrogen on demand to pull
this off?

What is the cost per mile of gallium and aluminum refills?

How far does the tank take you without a refill?

So far, I am not impressed.

DCI don't know about climbing hills, but I do know the city of Lansing Mi. has
been using hydrogen powered buses and trucks since 1975.

I'm considering an attachment that will give 30% better fuel mileage
on almost any vehicle. $500 installed. Refill with distilled water =
every
300-400 miles. $3.00/gallon is down to $2.00/gal.. It gets 40% out
of a diesel. I've seen it and it works. There are some real pros on=20
this system. =20

The hydrogen is burned at such a fast rate the valves don't
get oxidation damage. It isn't in mass production but I might get one =
for my
older 94 Chevy 1500 to see how it works. Simple install, fused, =
amperage
meter, hose to the carb/fuel injector and a small tank that seems
smaller than a bread box. Might be tight under the hood of some cars. =20
It is easily removed for inspections. They won't pass because the =
emissions=20
are so low it gives a false reading!!! Exhaust is cleaner too.

It can be removed and installed in another vehicle easily. Only one =
install
was a problem for the designer so far out of 10+. The computer in the =
Ford van=20
would make the fuel mixture richer to compensate for the changes the =
hydrogen box
created. Turned out to COST him 30% in gas mileage! The next step is =
to
hack the car computers to adapt for this inexpensive device. He's =
working
on that now.

Just a consideration.

------=_NextPart_000_00FC_01C7997C.131A17A0--seems to me he's just passing the electricity buck.

The idea is to get power to your car's wheels. His plan is to use aluminum/gallium
to split water. And how does he get the aluminum/gallium back after it's
used? Electricity. (I seem to remember reading that one of the biggest users
of electricity in the country is the aluminum industry. Lots of power needed
to electrolize it out of ore.)

The same electricity that is used to split the alulminum oxide back to aluminum
could just as easily be used to split water directly into hydrogen and oxygen.
He's just moved the process from a most likely more efficient power plant
right into a 350 pound pile of rocks in your car. Two conversions instead
of one, undoubtedly more inefficient, to save the trouble of creating a hydrogen
infrastructure. Maybe good. Maybe not.

The other problem with hydrogen, namely it's tendency to leak right through
seals and hoses, would still remain.

Very interesting story. I wish I could get enthused about it...

>You hung out with Ron Paul's hot niece?!? And I thought you were cool just
because you'll take on hardware projects I won't. Wow.

My point, of course, is that conservatives like me--the old school isolationist
ones--despise this war and, like Unky Ron Paul, think that the CIA concept
of blowback means something. It's funny, when I was in Bangkok this last
time I was hungry and thirsty and dropped into a bar. Had a long conversation
with a guy who worked for a non-profit that goes all over the world clearing
land mines. Unsurprisingly he had spent lots of time in Afghanistan, one
of the most mined countries in the world. I asked him, point blank, if the
Taliban and other fellow travelers were using literally the same guns and
other weapons to shoot US/NATO troops that the CIA gave them to fight the
Russians. He shook his head (a Brit by the way) and said, 'Of course, they're
the best weapons in the country.'

Us old school conservatives also despised Ruby Ridge and Waco and a lot of
other things that were done to 'crazy' people and 'religious fanatics' and
so on. And the Islamberg folks have as much right as any home schooling holy
rolling Christian community does to live as they wish as long as they obey
the law. When they don't, they should be punished, just like child molesting
Roman Catholic priests.

But I'm still jealous you hung out with Ron Paul's gorgeous niece. I mean,
what's not to like? Libertarian politics in a hot Texas girl. Where do I
sign up?
