I have this problem on some of my ADAT cards and I'm using WinME for my rig,
and I think I concluded it was a problem with the EDS card.
I have (1) loaded MEC (2 of everything). At one time, I used an ADAT loop
for realtime dumping of 8 tracks (8 insert sends to 8 new tracks, printed).
But 3 and 4 never worked. I swapped the EDS card that the MEC was connected
to (after swapping out the ADAT card twice) and things were healed.
Never bothered to do an exhaustive investigation - just chalked it up to
Paris weirdness.
Try a different EDS card in the same position on your mobo, connected to the
same MEC / ADAT combination. See if that does anything...
SandyAnd if you had been in a wheelchair for a number of years, then
all of sudden be able to walk again, you'd probably miss that
chair for certain things, too (like in your case, being able to
harness the dogs up to it & have your own version of the
Ititarod sled race), but in the end isn't it nicer to be able
to just take off running whenever you want to?

Even my producer and Engineering buddies here in town prefer miy Paris Mixes
to my Neundo and Pro Tools mixes.. They say "It's Sound slike a Record and
rounder..
Paris pretty much mixes a song itself. Miuxing in the natives is entirely
differnt skill-set. I love Paris

You DEFINITELY want this on, it's especially useful when you're
updating drivers & software & the like. Juuuuuust in case. Much
easier to go back to your prior settings in the event you run
into a problem than it is to have to ghost everything
every time there's a new driver or you try a new plugin demo
or you're all of sudden eligible to purchase version 7 of
WhompComp for a dollar-fifty because you bought version 2.2
prior to yesterday, for example, but then you find out that
version 7's GUI only works on screen resolutions of 5700x3200 or
greater, and so then you try to uninstall it, but the uninstall
wizard wasn't properly written, and when you try to go back to
v2.2 it gives you an error that reads: "Sorry, your version of
WHompCOmp is no longer supported, please go to our website &
purchase v7.0".
Yeah, it's better to leave that setting enabled. :)

Sarah - I realize that the majority of shootings are probably male, but this
is a silly sexist thing to say - isn't it? I have no doubt that a girl could
do a similar thing. Our society gives us example after example of this
destructive behavior with guns (what else are guns for?) and women are no
exception to shootings or destruction.
There is also no guaranteed way to stop this kind of violence. Sad but true.
It is, unfortunately, one of the very high prices/possibilities that comes
with our liberties in the US (guns, guns rights, etc..). At very minimum, at

I'm not anti-gun, in fact, I own a gun, but guns have no place
in school, so unless you'd also pass a law that said concealed-
carry laws preempt school policy, then what you're saying would
be irrelevant in any case. Tragic as it is, the risk of
something like this happening once every fourty-something years
is much less than the risk of a bunch of students toting around
firearms & one guy seeing another guy hitting on his chick
on the way to study hall, and... hey, fucker, get away from my
girlfriend or I'll pop a cap in yo' ass"; "oh yeah, you just try
it & you'll hafta answer to my two buddies... Smith, and
Wesson", multiply that incident by the hundrends of times each
day in this country that something like that must happen (sans
guns) and and well, you figure out the potential stats.
What blows my mind is that this guy just starts lining people
up in a lecture hall & no handful of guys decided to rush him &

Well I always thought Countess Erzsébet Báthory was a little wacky. But for

It's simply not the case. Concealed permit holders commit so
close to zero crime that they have to be considered some of the
most law-abiding people on the planet. Concealed carry permits
have lowered crime about 20% everywhere they have been tried.
The myth of people just "snapping" and waving guns around is not
factual.
Would you? Me neither. No one I know would do that, and criminals
and gang members do not apply for permits and usually break the law
by owning guns with a felony record anyway.

thought that the Pulsar II card would be worth the price just for the
reverbs. I's still liking the RME cards quite a bit though. The new drivers

BTW....sorta' OT but I'm gonna be recording some lap steel OD's tomorrow
night using my Lexicon 284 and the stereo cab with a '57 on one cone and an
sE ribbon on the other. The cab will be isolated in my Eckel Industries
audiologist booth (like an anechoc chamber). The direct outs of the amp will
probably be used simultaneously as well and I'll likely split the guiitar
output to a Radial Tonebone and send one of the leads to my POD for a
different tone.
Should be interesting.

I'm not blaming "men," in fact, I'm not really blaming anyone, except maybe
our culture for making violence cool. However, I don't think you can solve
a problem if you pretend that an obvious aspect of that problem doesn't
matter just because it pushes buttons.
Women aren't "better" than men, or vice versa. Men and women are "equal,"
but you may have noticed they are very different. One major difference
related to aggressive and combative behavior is testosterone, which a male
typically has 7 to 10 times as much of as a female. Testosterone levels
rise rapidly, sometimes drastically, with threat, anger, and competition.
Just as girls are taught about their special hormonal differences and
reproductive cycles, boys should be taught about this special aspect of
their physiology, and the emotions it can produce. Instead of thwarting
their natural aggression and energy, we should teach them to channel it into
creative, constructive activity. We should also teach them that empathy and
compassion are not "gay," and that having brain and a heart are more
important than having "balls," so to speak. I bet most of the men here
avoided violent behavior in part when they were growing up by beating the
shit out of drums or guitars instead of other guys.
Of course we need to discourage violence in all our children, but it's a
bigger problem among boys, and I think some special attention is needed
there. Does this make sense?

right at the cone. Now do close mic each cab with a bright/dark mic? Move
the two mics I was planning on using back a few inches? Pick one amp per
overdub but use the pair live? More testing to do.
Here's an odd one. I think drummer should have to justify, in writing, every
time they hit a tom, because they hit them a lot less. This assumes, of course,
the drummers can write, so I might be starting from false assumptions, but
I just think toms get in the way and that fills should be Charlie Watts/Al
Jackson kick/snare/cymbal things. However, our drummer uses toms quite a
bit so we were doing some testing on mics. We tried four mics, a 57, a Rode
NT5, an AKG 412, and a Behringer pencil condenser that I think cost less
than $150 for the pair. I wouldn't be telling this story if the Behringer
didn't win. It has a tighter pattern so there's less extraneous trash (the
NT5 had by far the most trash) and the tom sounded just fine through it.
So Behringer it is, and that frees up the pair of NT5s to do other jobs.

then tried to run the inserts of thsoe 2 tracks via SPDIF into my soundcard
and into Samplitude. No luck.

It might just be an ASIO setting I need to mess with to clock my card from

digital) that I interface during mixdown , 26 AD's and DA's and few other
odds and ends that I am swapping around during tracking and mixing. PB's
just work better for my purposes.I'm not having any *issues* with signal
degradation or intermittent connections. Climbing around behind my racks
just isn't ergonomically feasible or practical. It's much easier to just
lean over from my perch in the sweet spot, grab a cable and plug it in if
need be. Right now, I'm using 3 x 48 point PB's that are configured straight
through (1:1). I'll be making better use of normalling/half normalling, if
and when, to reduce th number of patch cables necessary, but this won't be
for any reason having to do with fidelity, just convenience.

Sorry, you can't convince me... I'm certain that I gain at least
3.5Khz on the top end, -6db lower noise levels and an extra 14db
of dynamic range by avoiding the use of patchbays.

better at identifying those people.

kid might be about to go off the deep end. In essence, they were 'human intelligence'
for the authorities.
In the same way 'human intelligence' operatives are the best defense against
terrorism, other random acts of violence, suicides, and a lot of other things.
Banning shampoo on airplanes, in case you're wondering, is not.

Unfortunately, way before all the facts are in, many in the media are trying
to blame VT Administration and police over not warning students for two hours,
yada yada... Maybe! but can't the debate on that and gun control, etc. wait
for the victims to all be identified, and families notified?
I have been extremely impressed with the actions, and interviews with all
the VT students and faculty. They are (for now) only blaming the shooter,
even with the reporters pressing them to slam the VT police and president.
VT students have classy attitudes and all instinctively seem to be on the
same page without being told what to say. The pride and unity seen weekly
in Lane Stadium runs deeper than I ever imagined. Check out the remarkable

same machine. I clocked the 2496 to SPDIF in. It worked very well with
Samplitude (v8 at the time).
As long as you have the clock settings right, I'd look at the Paris
patchbay. It's been a while since I've done it, but I think when you're
tapping an insert from the Paris patchbay, you have to have a return
patched to any unused channel for it to complete the virtual circuit and
pass audio. As an alternative you could use an Aux send instead.
