Very Cool, actually. :)
Any chance you recorded the interview or it's on the web somewhere?
AAHi guys, I was just wondering if the latest version of paris actually supports
VSTi or DXi instruments such as Native Instruments Battery Version 3?"Johnny Blaze" <johnny728@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hi Bill,
Likewise, the site looks very interesting. I'd
be really interested on your take of those instruments
if you get a chance to play one. Sound and feel wise
for sure. I wonder if the three coils are ever active
all together or if it just swaps from two to one?
I'll be waiting for your impressions!
By the way don't you use a Vox Tonelab SE ?
I do. If you've found good compressor settings
I'd really appreciate your choice of settings so I can=20
try them here. I really don't like that aspect of the box
as good as it is otherwise.

Hey Bill,
Checked out the site. What a great looking instrument. I liked their =
take
on the f-hole, classy, but cool. Looks like it would be real =
comfortable
to play too. =20

------=_NextPart_000_0029_01C8618B.4F2878E0--Nice drumming and playing! Fun song. Who is the singer?
Neil, I know you didn't ask, but I'm gonna give you a couple cents worth
of mix critique, because I like the song and you have been helpful with
my mixes in the past: I wanted to hear a lot less of the synthy/organey
pads and less wash of guitars. They kind of washed out the power of
everything else. The guitar comping was almost indistinguishable from
the synths in many places. Maybe pronounced panning (synths left,
guitars right?) and more pointy EQ would clear up the middle a bit too
so the drums and bass can push through. Also, on the drums I'm hearing
mostly top end on my Mackie HR 824s - I'm not feeling low end punch from
the kick drum and pop from the snare.
Anywho, it's a great tune - thanks for sharing.

>Hi Neil,
That's weird. I heard exactly what Bill L heard concerning the mix on Adams
A7 with a sub. I was considering sending you a similar note. I'd like more
power from the drums and bass. Bass is ok but not real pronounced but the
drums feel or sound in the distant and top endy. Vox and instruments punch
out well and feel close and in my face. I like that. Changes in the drums
and the mix would be balanced for me. Great tune with an LA vibe. Nice
tones.
Hey Rod, good stuff! Must have been fun! Very exciting. I thought I was
listening to Neil Pert.

I can't believe you actually asked him that... what exactly did
you say? "Yeah, I have this idiot friend who asked me to see if
you'd sing on his current project." ? lol

OK, I just dragged "Pull Me Under" into a new project
with "Istanbul" running parellel to it, and the first thing I
noticed is that Istanbul has a SHITLOAD more information from
like 12k and above than the D.T. track does... that could be
part of the issue if you're comparing one to the other. I mean
it really is a shitload... 15-20 db or more difference
depending on the section of each song.
Spectrum analyzer also shows a deficit on the 100-150 range on
my track compared to "Pull Me Under", but not a huge amount...
could be enough to make a difference, though, if that's what you
guys are all feeling (or NOT feeling, as might be the case).
They also have a somewhat smiley curve going from 100k to 10k,
and i don't... on Istanbul it's almost a straight-line slightly
downard, minus few peaks & valleys here & there.

It was recorded -- I should have a copy this Sunday. We've been
discussing putting every week up as a podcast -- well, more of an mp3
download.
My thinking is to break the show into 3 1-hour segments, editing out
the commercials. A 3-hour mp3 is a big chunk to download, and a big
chunk to scan through.
Our problem is our assistant hasn't been real motivated to burn the
shows to cd. I just volunteered to come in and do it, since I'm
motivated and have DAW experience. I've got friends in a bunch of
states who want to hear the show.
I'll know more this week. Either way, I'll make sure you get a copy.
pabPaul, is that going to be native?

The opening gtr/key riff is killing volume-wise. Drums are much nicer,
bigger. Same as below, 1.2k and 2k are too harsh in on the axe trax. I bet
once that's carved you're also going to have more space for the vocal and
need to back it down a few hairs and have more room for the keys as well.
Of the three, this 2nd one is my favorite version
> http://saqqararecords.com/MiscAudio/Istanbul-v3aPorticoTapeS imRoughW-RLincolnDrums.mp3
I still think the kick is a bit on the thinnish side. I'm hearing some kind
of distortion in the vocal - almost like you might hear on vinyl LP on say
something like Magic Power/Triumph, and the gtrs are still too harsh around
1.2k and again at 3k. I think if you get those tamed a bit more, then you
can bring the kit back around to a more natural and ballsy state. Any chance
you have a sansamp to run the bass through? I could hear more grunt on that
track pretty easily.
In all mixes, I think the rhythm gtr could stand to come up a bit, but those
freq's at the top (1.2 & 2k) are hard on the listener. I'm also hearing some
space fighting/uneven low energy going on between synth and bass (3:26~3:37
are examples of this)..... a multiband on the insert might fix that.

He guys,
It's been a month since my last post. Reason being
I broke my tibia fibula just above my ankle clean through
on 12/30. =20
Got some titanium inserted inside where the marrow was
and screwed in in three places. I spent five days in the hospital
due to a fever I was running. The pain was incredible for
the first three weeks. Now I'm barely taking the pain meds.
They helped alot though. Toes are moving and feeling. They
tell me that's good. Ankle feels swollen and tender and is tough
to move.
Physical therapy is in house which is great although
very difficult. I am giving it all I've got to get back on my=20
feet asap. So far keeping the foot above my heart all
the time is the best way to keep the swelling down along with
ice after exercise.
I want you all to know that I've been looking in here over the
last few weeks and it's great to feel some what normal again.
I can't spend more than 30 minutes at a desk. The studio
has been out of the question although I'm looking for a way to=20
rest my foot on the console without falling out of my chair.
I am gigging once or twice/week which is way bad for me. =20
Gotta make a living. =20
My stereo amp is in the shop where I am sleeping and exercising.
When it comes back I'll be doing some big time listening.
Any tips from friends here would be great regarding healing
and/or music productivity while healing would be great.
I'm down but not out,
Tom

Cool tune, great sounds, great playing too! I also felt like I wanted to
hear more bass but my RTA kept telling me that the low end was well represented.
A good lesson in not mixing w/ your eyes! Maybe a slightly different EQ
on the bass would give it a little more equal footing w/ the kick drum.
Your guitar playing was smokin' and Rod's drums rocked!

Could you make a mix where you pull out ALL the synths and rhythm
guitars, so we could hear what's going on under there?

Sorry if this is old news, but I only read this tonight.
It pretty much sums up what we all know. I nearly cried!'
I'm off to listen to one of my fave recordings.
Byron Janis plays Rach 2, recorded in '61 on film stock.
This brings on a different kind of tears... simply BEAUTIFUL!Beware of that page!!
There is something very wrong there. A virus or something.
The window with Fagen on it closed and a small Firefox
notice came up down in the corner asking me to install
their "antivirus"....

The voice distortion in the 2nd version might just be me lol

saturation setting (i.e.: almost "none"), but it still might be
enough to enhance that aspect.

NeilSo the question is, is this a legal kit that will transforms semi-auto Mac
10s in to a full auto Mac 10?
Years ago there were HellFire trigger kits that could make a semi-auto weapon
fire like that, with out modifying the weapon.
