This is insane. I am still lurking here. Using paris for my important projects and reaper when I am just tracking ideas for fun. So beyond Cool! Thanks for all your efforts Mike, and nice to see all the interest out there over this project. It seems like the interest in Paris is growing more now than I have seen since its hay day back in 1998-00.

Hi All,
Here's a screenshot of the upcoming MEC dialog for the PARIS ASIO driver. The dialog currently sets the output levels for the main and aux inputs and outputs. I'm going to fill in the expansion modules along the right and allow for a drag and drop, much like the PARIS app, for setting them active.
It's getting there.

Yes, the ASIO will work with the 442 as well. Originally, I had planned to use the same control panel for both the 442 and MEC, but just grey out the modules section if it was a 442. But when I dug into it, with the 442, you can't individually set the levels for I/Os 1-2 and 3-4. So, it will need it's own dialog.

I should probably apologize for the look of the dialog. 
I'm working on functionality first. Each of the expansion modules shown is actually an object that draws itself and will launch the right config dialog when double clicked, manage the drag and drop, etc. It's all being done with raw win32 api calls, which is fun.

Hey Mike, had to chime in and add my thanks to the mix here. I cannot wait to send you a payment for a new driver. 
I've been working with the Reaper actions a bit in the past couple of days, trying in vain to get my Griffin Powermate to work in Reaper the way the C16 jog wheel works in PARIS. So far, it's been a no-go.  So your work with that is of real interest and relevance.
Forgive my ignorance, I hope I'm not stirring the pot unnecessarily here... but I was wondering, is MIDI really the best way to go for the C16's functionality? Would something like OSC (which Reaper already supports) or another protocol altogether be better? I don't have the technical know-how to reverse-engineer the RS-422 codes the board uses, so I don't know what the hardware supports, but I guess I'm worried about latency and that the density of codes one would need to process for a large-scale PARIS rig might overwhelm a MIDI channel. (Of course, I'm taking it as a given that the new ASIO driver would support multiple EDS/MEC/C16s...)
Also, completely off-topic... one of the main reasons I have never been able to get comfortable with another DAW is their user interfaces all look so damn flat. One of PARIS' best features (IMHO) is the very, very 3D look and feel of the system. Has anyone ever made a PARIS-lookalike theme for themselves in Reaper?
I've been seeing this error quite a bit myself lately as well. What causes it? And does it actually do anything? I've found that I can generally ignore it and nothing bad seems to happen. Is it actually more than just an annoyance? (I.e., should I be worried?)Haha, Ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch. Or maybe just enough to get myself in trouble, lol. 
No worries about the delay - it couldn't have come at a better time. I flew a mixer (who had no prior experience with PARIS) in yesterday to mix our new album (100% PARIS-born and -bred, btw), and thanks to what I learned from the DVD (and him reading the entire PARIS manual front-to-back... twice!), we were able to get him completely up and running in less than an hour.
The quality is fine - a little blocky on some of the screen close-ups, but overall more than good enough for me to learn what I need to know.

You raise some good questions. The C16 uses a MIDI like protocol that has 10 bit values instead of 7 bit, as in the case of MIDI.
There is no danger of several C16s overwhelming a MIDI channel. It only sends data when a fader is moved or a button is pressed. The way I've set it up, each C16 sends the data over it's own midi channel. The first C16 sends data on channel 1, the second on channel 2, etc.
There might have been an argument to use the Reaper API instead of MIDI, but Reaper's API controls send and receive fader data as 7 bit values, just like MIDI. So, my thinking is that it's better to make something that will work with any audio app that supports MIDI control, since there's no advantage in Reaper to doing it using the API.
As for latency, I haven't noticed any at all. Keep in mind, it's MIDI, but it's all using internal "virtual" MIDI ports. There's no actual data going into and out of the computer.

- Carl Great to know, Mike. I wasn't sure if the C16 was polled actively or what. It's good to know it's silent most of the time. And I realize now that I was thinking about it the wrong way... somehow I was imagining Reaper talking directly to the C16, instead of having the ASIO driver handle that and convert it to a format that Reaper can use. That makes much more sense.
What sort of information and/or fine-grain resolution are we losing by translating 10 bits to 7? If I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be), OSC uses a 32-bit message size, which is more than enough to handle the 10 bits the C16 needs... if I'm not misunderstanding what OSC does. I don't know how Reaper has implemented OSC, and whether PureData or some other shim would be required to make it work, but it seems to my untrained eye that OSC would give much more flexibility and future-proofing than using MIDI.
But of course, you're the one doing all the work. I'm just armchair qb'ing it over here. Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but hey. So could a C-16 be used to say control the mixer in Record.Hi all, rebuilding Paris machine.. Need Latest PAris XP drivers?

Hey guys, I have a problem I can't seem to get to the bottom of. I have a mix I'm very happy with - all the levels are good, the effects work, and I like the sound. When I'm listening to it in PARIS, everything sounds great.
The problem is when I bounce it to disk. When I listen to the L/R PAFs (or WAVs, FLACs, or MP3s), suddenly one of the parts of the song - a big chorus-sounding comp I put together and inserted into the track - gets what I can only describe as "fluttery". I can't tell if it's pumping from the compressors, a phase issue, or what.
Why can't I hear it in PARIS? Why does it only show up in the bounce? And more importantly, how do I fix it??

where is the problemOk... I just figured it out. I wasn't hearing it direct from my DAW, so I thought it was something that was happening in the PAF to WAV/MP3/FLAC conversion in Audacity. I could hear it both through my monitors and headphones when I was listening to the mix from the computer. But then my girlfriend listened to the mix in her car and said she couldn't hear it. So I was baffled.
On a whim, I switched my headphones to my FocusRite VRM box while I was typing this email... and the flutter completely went away. It sounds perfect. It turns out it was the usb sound module I was using all along. Somehow it was doing some data or audio compression that fucked with the sound, and my ears. And my head.
The worst part is that everything else I've ever listened to through this device.sounded just fine, so this kind of came out of nowhere.

I've been rethinking my master buss processing for mixing lately - in Paris. I know that when I pull up the patchbay, there are insert points for the L/R submixers. I'm wondering if there's a way to add this insert point on the software submixer for Paris plugins. ?
What I really would like is... say 4 or 5 busses with plugin inserts in front of the master buss insert. But just having an insert point on the submix masters would sort of lead me that direction.
Any thoughts?

harry e I'm going to be away all day but ill try to post it tonight. It is a 50 pin scsi 2 like you said. Most of the ones I use are left overs from mac scsi hard drive days. I dont know if there is a maximum length limit for Paris use. I have one that is close to 10 feet and it works fine

Apologies for the outage, folks - an outrageously busy period of gigs, midterms and family life conspired with myriad little "comedy of errors" details such as the expiry of a credit card to see me miss my domain's auto-renewal and struggle to find the spare minutes to sort it all out. Sorry for the unpleasant flashback - shouldn't happen again!I have no lifesign of CS16. Not one of LED is blinking.
So i ask myself what can i do to repair the CS16. It was only one easy mistake in the System. I openend the CS16 an press the big cableribbon between the 2 platines it will shown on the right.
The CS 16 runs now. But carefully if you close the CS 16 pull up all pichknobs. I have scrached some.all is good so carry on merrilyHad me worried. The best person to answer this would be Mike but from my limited testing the answer to both the plugins and mix bus questions is no. As for running Abelton, I don't see why not.Don't know what you got til it's gone....

trying to figure out if the spdif inputs (on the mec itself) are only for clock sync or if you can actually use them as another pair of inputs.. I didn't see it in the patchbay when i brought up the mec device.
okay figured it out.. 'd' for digital. 
okay.. so this is where I'm at so far, I have a single core athalon
pc running windows xp (black). I got version 2.2 working on the single core driver (the free one) just fine, but when I try to install version 3, it goes through the install procedure and when I click the icon nothing happens, no splash screen etc.
I suspect its either the driver Im using or my windows xp.. anyone run into this issue?
Im aware of mike's drivers and Im planning to make the purchase at some point along with some of the plugs, but im flat broke from buying the paris system last week and just want to get her going, learn and experiment before investing more cash.
thanks!I noticed that if record something at a reasonably hot level, (approaching 0db).. that if I add some gain with an eq or comp (lets say half the range of gain on an eq knob) on a channel fader it will clip.. (a thrashy digital type sound) even though I still have room on the mix bus.
If I bring the channel fader down, it doesn't make a difference, but if I change the gain of the clip i can add some gain with eq or compression..
does this sound right or am I doing something wrong?
I watched the Brian Tankersley video and he said that you can add quite a bit of gain at the eds inputs before clipping so it made me wonder.
(im using version 2.2 right now)

I took a look at the reviews for the Requisite Audio and Aurora Audio Mic Pre and Compressor/Limiters and they look impressive. Wish I could get the opportunity to A & B them!
I had some mastering done with a Manley Variable Mu and I liked the way that project came out. It sounded thicker with more depth and a little colored but nicer to listen to.
For Mic pre, I've been using a Demeter for the last few years and I like the sound...clean, warm and transparent.

The Voxbox is good (7 out of 10) for a tube preamp, but at some point you'll want to upgrade from it. The other units there is no upgrade from them, all are top end pro (9's or 10's).
Requisite are the biggest cleanest most natural sound ever.
Fearn's sound just huge with smooth vintage toobie goodness.
Aurora is tight 1073 Neevish with a better top end clarity. Geoff originally designed the 1073 & 1084 Neve gear so he should know the sound, lol.
Used a Voxbox over 30 times with good results, never great.
I owned a Vari-Mu for years and know the sound, Voxbox is not going to get that 3D hifiness, look at the SLAM for that in a Manley preamp combo.thanks!
although I think I messed up the effects folder.. the previous owner gave me a bunch of chuck duffy effects that he had bought.. I extracted the whole lot into the plugins folder (system32>ensoniq) and it boots up with a bunch of errors, doesn't like the .dll files and only a couple of the plugins actually show up. I took out the .dll files but only two out of 8 or so new plugins work.
If anyone can shed some light on how to install the extra plugins from a zip file let me now.
Does the zip file contain the dll's or ppj files?
Slightly confused because it doesn't specify 'asio' I would really be interesting in using paris hardware with ableton live.

The person to contact about the ASIO drivers is Mike Audet. I think they are still in development
I believe the drivers for windows are just for multicore processors and windows XP although rumour is they work on Windows 7 too
But don't quote me on thatNebula is a fantastic plug in that emulates gear like nothing else, particularly EQs and Reverbs AND it work in Paris (XP 32 bit at least).
Long time Paris user (not sure of current usage) accomplished Producer and former Forum participant Gene Lennon has created a new Nebula library.

Sorry I've been away from the forum and thus not able to respond to your response to my question. I lost my mother right after my original post below, so now that life is getting back to normal, I'm trying to resolve my Paris problems. I'm not using any specific drivers other than those that came with XP and PARIS. You just made me realize something though - I don't receive the updates for XP. Maybe I'm having older XP problems because I don't receive the updates. I bought my version of XP from someone on Ebay, but it only worked for about 2 months. I started getting Windows messages that the version is not authentic. Maybe I need to update XP and that will resolve my problems?
RayI have got two MEC 442,EDS 1000 and ofcorse 2 CS 16. One is the old black one and the other one the blue.
If Paris Software/Hardware starts, both CS16 will start like it seems well. If i open a projekt where is used Mec A and B the both CS 16 are linked to one Mixer/ MEC. CS 16 old and blue works only with Mixer one.
Is it a hardware issue ? Someone have got the same problem ?

Tedjust started using version 3 and trying to figure out how to bounce the output of the master fader.. in 2.2. it was a little button labelled 'd' on the master fader. I cant see this button anywhere.
Check in the projects menu for the C16 setup. Check the box for your blue pro C16 and leave the other unchecked.Same as 2.2

I did do that way in the CS16 and all possible combinations too. After changed Settings i have Paris restartet every time. But i doesnt works  .
In the Paris Window i can select only one CS in the Submix Display Controls. Is this right ?

I think your response may be the source of my problem. I can't use PARIS at all now because I keep getting messages from Windows that it needs to close. I would just like to confirm if XP is the problem. Any ideas?
Rayit should allow you to select two if there are two. Are the lights lighting up on both of them? Both EDS cards A and B show up? I sold my HD rig and went back to PARIS full time.
I put my RME 9652 in another machine running Reaper 4 but my sync seems off.
Do I need to go back to Reaper 3.71 or should I stay in 4?
Sounds like your autoload song is correctly configured - you've opened the songs where they aren't working correctly and held down the Submix button on each of the C16s in succession to see which light goes on to indicate the submix that C16 is assigned to (PARIS Reference Manual P212)?Very sorry to hear about your loss, Ray, my condolences. Your Crash On Exit could be a PARIS XP driver issue. Which ones are you using?I only see a button that says 'sub on' on the master fader, and it seems clicked in, not sure how to initiate the bouncing procedure.
Press G to open the master mixer. Scroll to the rightmost strip, the only one whose three bottom buttons are labelled "D", "A" and "E". The "D" is the bounce-to-disk button.It has been a long time since I checked the news in here !

The ASIO driver is still in development and it appears to be at the top of Mike's to do list.
I had an older beta version a while back that seemed to integrate well with REAPER albeit with a fair amount of delay in start up and implementing commands, i.e. start, stop etc.
I didn't try any recording so I can't comment on that aspect of it's performance.
Try contacting Mike to see how things are progressing.

Hi all! It's been awhile! My 2 card 2 Mec rig began displaying all meters pegged on card b mixer with no sound out of card b. When I make card b the master it works fine but card a doesn't work; though its meters display nothing. Running xp. I've redone setup numerous times tried different cards all cards work fine alone. Replugged crossover cables many times.... anyone run into this?

How can I record more that 16 tracks live? Your MEC is attached to an EDS card, which is normally associated with a particular submix. Say MEC A, which has has 2 8i cards, is plugged into Card A which is assigned to Submix 1; it can record those 16 channels into Submix 1. If Card A is assigned to Submix 3, the attached MEC travels with it - now all 16 ins record into Submix 3. You can't patch across card boundaries.
Sounds like all you need to do is assign the card that's attached to the MEC with the 16 ins to the Submix you want to record into.Hi Kerry,

It's been a long time since checking in but I wish all those still here a very happy new year!
Things are still highly functional with the Paris/Cubase combo I've been using. A recent project i've completed is Sahdaya Headshotz/Bodyshotz on iTunes. It has been mastered in a less than 'full' way but the client is happy. Sahdaya has an album being released on 2/14/13 which will include at least 15 tracks most of which mixed here at Dobo Studios. The other tracks are more traditional R&B with a modern twist. I'll have to be a part of the full project's mastering session next time.

Double check your ribbon cables that they are orientated the same and the wide ones are crossing over in X configuration. It should be something simple as it sounds like everything is functioning one at a time. Check EDS SCSI cables for bent pins. It has happened to me where one pin gets bent and causes much strangeness. Confirm your config file matches your clock source...ie house sync=1 or 0. Spdif in from mec chassis Master to Mec chassis slave spdif out or you wont get sound from slave eds card. Also make sure LR mix is patched to digital LR out on your "slave EDS Card.

In my own experience, I've had problems syncing Reaper in any version to an external MIDI device. Were you running Reaper 3 or 4?3 for sure and possibly the first version of 4...pulled the plug on my music room in December of 2011 if that helps determine if I was on 4Here is the content of an email I got from another Paris user on syncing Paris with Reaper. This was sent Tues March 27, 2012.
"- right-click on the transport bar in Reaper (you may have to try in a few different places)
- scroll up the resulting menu to about the fourth entry from the top - "external timecode synchronization", which is a submenu
- select "synchronization settings".
- Once you have that dialog open, tick "enable synchronization to timecode"
- in "use input:" choose APP (ASIO Positioning Protocol).
Start PARIS; Reaper should chase it immediately with decent latency, and stop when you stop PARIS.
Your ADAT connections should be pretty much automatic - check your ADAT cables, and make sure you don't bridge across MECs at first (ie 8 channels from one MEC and 8 from another to the RME) until you get the hang of the connections. Let me know if that helps. "

TedFound my problem...one eds card simply doesn't get along with others...works fine by itself. Pheew! Luckily I had another....been a long few weeks....great to have 32 outs again! Time to build a backup.. moral of story....sometimes it's the hardware dammit! WillLast thing you'd ever think would be the problem.
We had one with our two old MOTU 828 IIs, seems they didn't like the new firewire protocol (I think that's the term) in anything newer than Windows XP SP1 so when we upgraded our old puter and installed the new service packs we lost connectivity of one of the MOTUs
Seems this wasn't a new issue but there was no work around for us so we sold them and picked up a used RADAR V to handle our AD/DA conversion...now that was a freaking eye opener in terms of a sonic upgrade...WOW!3x eds Card.

I just spent the last hour working on the driver. I've been away from it for the last six weeks, which really sucks. But, it's good to be back.
I ran into difficulty as a result of Reaper closing and reopening ASIO drivers when the control panel is opened. As you know, the PARIS hardware can take a while to open when it has to initialize MEC modules. I have 6 in my MEC, and the delay introduced when opening the control panel in Reaper was ridiculous.
So, I made changes to open the hardware when the ASIO driver is loaded instead of when the driver is activated by the app.
I started having weird, random crashes when the control panel opened.
I had to make a choice - fix it quickly or fix it right. I chose the latter. I've written the driver so that all hardware access is separated from the ASIO part. The advantage of this is that it is easier to debug because it's organized properly. It also gave me more insight into how the hardware is started up by the ASIO app. It's one thing to read code, it's a whole other level of understanding to write it. I didn't just copy and past it - I re-wrote it all to be efficient and maintainable.
I just got the new design to compile for the first time. I'm about to start debugging it.
Part of why I decided to write a new hardware object is that I'd like to get a new PARIS app written eventually. This could be a major extension of reaper, or something else. I'm not sure.
But, I haven't gone away or lost interest, and I feel absolutely terrible that this has taken so long. I definitely don't want to let anybody down. I'm in this for the long hall - I'll be using PARIS until my hearing finally goes completely, probably in my 80s (I hope it takes that long!). My wife has had chronic headaches since the summer, so I've been looking after my daughter more than I would have had Erin been healthy. We're doing all we can, and at least all the serious stuff has been ruled out (no tumour or aneurism), but it's still a challenge getting free time. I'm doing my very best and plan to do better.
I hope everyone is well. Back to work on PARIS for me...

If so I have over the years had a few episodes that last for weeks and the last time I ended up doing quite a bit of reading and found that COQ10, B12, and magnesium citrate taken with calcuim to absorb seemed to help quite a bit.Hey Mike!

Are you trying to make the Paris interfaces work w/ Reaper? What do you mean by "Paris APP"? Something that lets a Paris GUI work in Reaper? Could Paris ever run with high sample-rate interfaces? It would be totally cool to run a Protools session using the Paris GUI, which I know inside and out. Pipe dreams, I know, but you never know...

Maybe they'll learn something, maybe they won't.
WayneSomeone told me that PT10 uses 52 bit floating point math (someone correct me if I'm wrong!). A big part of the Paris sound is the (someone correct me if I'm wrong again!) 56 bit floating point processing. Only ahead of their time by what? 18 years? Where are all those engineers who created the EDS card? Those guys knocked the ball outta the park! Then St. Croix and Edmund created a software processor and GUI that is still, for me at least, the fastest, most efficient editor ever.
I'm gonna miss Paris when it's gone...

After five years of my Paris system in mothballs, I finally took the time to get it up today. I had made some hardware changes before I shelved it that didn't work, so in bringing it back up, I went back to the original config. It took about an hour of tweaking but it seems to be solid again.
I pulled up an old track and started listening. After working in pro tools on an 002 system the last few years, I was amazed at how quickly i heard the difference. The best was I can describe it is like sitting in one of those old schoolhouse desks then moving to a lazyboy. It was just smooth and easy on the ears.
I've been dropping in occasionally but not saying much. Looking forward to getting back into Paris again, at least for tracking.
JHGantt, I am so sorry to hear about your wife passing. If there is anything I can do for you or your family, just let me know.
I know you posted your message quite some time ago, so I'm very sorry I haven't read it until today. I find when things are not progressing with the PARIS code, I hide from the forum because I feel guilty.
But, I finally, finally fixed the crashing control panel problem today, so with a little luck the wind will be in my sails again and this thing will finally get done.
To think I thought this would be a quick project to make the 64 bit driver useful before I started re-writing the effects subsystem code. I can see why companies hesitate to update drivers for older hardware. Thankfully, I'm not a company.

Fantastic for tracking. Still in love after all these years!Yup, agree. Still using it as my primary audio system. I do use PTM9 for sequencing or building songs when I don't know the meter yet because PT allows me to adjust the recorded audio tempo after tracking. When I'm happy with the meter, then it all gets rerecorded in PARIS. If a particular track is worth keeping then I just patch the mono or stereo output of the PT interface to the PARIS A-D converters (MEC in my case), match the PARIS tempo and record. Basically, play the PT track and record into PARIS.
No matter what I do inside the PT box it just lacks a warmth and shine that is inherant to the PARIS A-D and DSP.

Probably moot now, but I'm on the email address that I've registered here with.
Matt.PARIS Loads under Windows 7 64! It does not play back audio properly, which means I have a bug in my double buffering code, but I can work on that. I know that the driver can pass audio because the ASIO works. The ASIO doesn't need a double buffering workaround, so that's the only place that the problem can be.
On one playback attempt, I could clearly hear acoustic guitar playing back, but there was static every so often. The next try, it was silence. But, I can work on that!
I loaded up my heartbeat plugin, and I hear the PARIS heartbeat for the first time under Windows 7 64. I have no idea how I'm going to sleep tonight.
If anyone ever gets the following error:
*** ASSERTION FAILED: NativeFxLibrary.cpp:191 ((LibraryHeader*)libData)->tag==kLibTag
It may be that ParisGlobalFxLibrary.fxl is corrupted. Delete it, and PARIS creates a new copy when it launches. That took a while to sort out.
The other issue I was having was an access violation when PARIS started, and that was cleared up two days ago when I tried compiling the PSCL with Visual C++ 2010 and it worked.

I think we might be almost ready for prime time. I have to resolve the double buffering bug - but at least that's my code - and I have to do a bunch of stress testing. But, when I load PARIS, I can load EDS plugins, look at all the MEC cards in the patch bay, play audio (though garbled) - it looks really good!
As for graphics, I think there is going to be lots of opportunity for skinning the control panels in the ASIO control panel.
I do want to be up front that the ASIO driver will still be 32 bit for now. It will run under a 64 bit OS, but will only be accessible to 32 bit audio applications. I have to convert the PSCL to 64 bits before we can get a true 64 bit ASIO. But, now that the ASIO is compiling under a modern compiler, that will be a lot easier to do (though still hard).

Is there any way to do this? Ive been away from Paris for a while and having some success with other approaches, but recently have been listening to stuff I did last year in Paris and am struck (again) by the sound - particularly the soundstage. It's wide and deep. Amazing really.
Sidechaining is important though. I've searched here but don't really see anything about it. Does that Wire in/out utility allow for it?
Any help appreciated.
TedI believe wires could be used in that manner although it's been a while since I've used Paris....hopefully one of our regular users will chime in with a definitive yea or nay on that.

DanI have been using Paris for a couple of years and I never had to venture out of 16 channel recording. Now I find I have a need for more channels. I read everything in the manual and it never touches the real configuration of recording onto a new sub mix. If someone could please shed some light on how to do so. In the configuration window do I choose card A or B or both? Do I drag mixer B onto the patch bay and if I do how does it connect I have tried only to get "You can't cross connect". I know how to open the windows on the sub mix but when I pull down the window to switch A to B it won't highlite. I know this may sound dumb to many of you but I have spent the better part of 40 years behind an API board and 2 3M M79s so much of this is greek to me and the way the manual is written is more for the computer engineer. I would also like to add the extra c-16 I have to control the B card. Any help would be vastly appreciated. Thanks RonYour cards are basically "blocks" of sixteen channels. Importantly, inside PARIS each card represents not just the EDS card itself but the MEC and all the associated hardware inputs cabled to it.
Your submixes are also blocks of sixteen channels. So you need to first associate the card with the inputs you need (probably A?) with the submix you want to record into. You do this in the Master Mixer by hitting G to call it up and then telling the submix which card (and by extension, all the associated MEC hardware cabled to it) you want assigned to it.Thanks Kerry,

I have succeeded in making a portable 36 analog + 6 digital recording Paris system using ONE MEC sized consisiting the heart of three mecs and three analog 8 channel input cards !
All these inside one MEC !!
It costs a hell lot of money to make. Mostly good engineering...
But the idea has been realized with total success.
So now having my PC with three EDS cards inside a rackmount pc chassis plus a modified "MEC" and you are off to liove recording for 36 analog channels plus 6 spdifs if you need some more...
You will need a word clock generator to sync all three mecs , IF SOMEONE SUCCEEDED syncing THREE MECS without external wordclock let me know how !
This looks amazing mostly at the back side with all these inputs and digital connections !
This is ONE OF A KIND , the only existen 42 channel Ensoniq paris recorder using only 9U rack enclosure for PC and "MEC"

The PARIS application is running on Windows 7 64.
So far, I've tested one VST plugin, and it worked. I haven't tried UAD plugins or the FXspantion wrapper.
I can play back 32 tracks before I get a "disk too slow" warning. I have 4 cards, so this is not ideal, but I checked in Windows XP, and that is the exact same number I can get there, too. So, it's just that the software RAID that came with my motherboard sucks.
All 4 of my cards pass audio just fine.
EDS effects work.
Automation works.
CS16 works.
Recording audio works.
I can't find anything yet that doesn't work.
I'll do more testing over the next few days, and I have a bit of code cleanup to do. There is some memory leaking from somewhere, and I have a bunch of debug messages to remove.
After 4 years (has it been that long?), it works!!!!
Give me a couple more weeks to test and tweak, and this should be out and ready to use.

DimitriosThe last I tried them, the beta ASIO drivers worked down to 256 samples latency and saw all the i/o of my 2 MEC/multiple MEC module rig. Don't know if anything's changed since then.Thats good to hear .

I wonder myself is still somone there ro rework Paris 3.0. Someone like to make a progamming projekt to improve Midi.
In my mind i got the imagination to implement something like Cubase, Reaper into Paris to Handle Midi easy by paris.

The technician worked on this project can do this for 500 euros plus all parts and shippings...
He only needs on mec , and the guts of other two mecs plus either three input cards or adat cards...
You may also find someone in USA do that for you now that you have the idea, but my technician does not share any technical information on that project and I will respect that.
He did a remarkable job and it works like a charm.

Hi Dimitrios and Dan,
Finishing the ASIO driver is my next priority. It has a control panel for selecting MEC modules and allows the use of all cards. I had the latency down to 70 samples, if I remember right. It also allows the C16 to be used as a MIDI controller.
I think I've got the 64 bit driver just in time. XP is not getting any more security updates after April 2014. And, almost all new PCs ship with a 64 bit OS. A 64 bit driver makes things a lot easier going forward.
As for the PARIS software, ID hasn't released the source code, so I can't really do much with the PARIS app itself. But, the VST subsystem is in a dll, so it may be small enough that I can reverse engineer it. The MIDI subsystem is in a dll, too. I'd like to take a crack at getting rid of the MIDI engine errors.

I purchased all the EDS plugins and the XP driver even though I am still running a 3 card system on win98 se.
I use PARIS everyday and plan to as long as the EDS cards etc keep working.
I will definitely buy the Win7 64 bit driver and look into building a new PC this year.

The only thing I have to add to this relates to the ADAT card.
I have a 442 and an MEC both synced to word clock.
If I sync my Behringer ADA8000 from the ADAT card, moment that the audio is sampled at is delayed relative to my 8 in card.
If I sync the ADA8000 to word clock, the moment that the audio is sampled at is identical to my 8 in card.
I don't know if this helps anyone or not.

It really was a much more challenging project than I originally thought it would be. There really aren't a lot of people working on drivers, and there are even fewer who are writing new drivers for 15 year old hardware. So, google wasn't as helpful as it is with other tech projects.
When I first started looking into it, it looked impossible. Then I stumbled onto a kernel function that was added to make AGP cards work better. Without that one function, we would have been sunk.
Add to that the time constraints that come with starting a family, and it's been a struggle.
But, it's done! I did some optimization yesterday, and I'm doing some code clean up. But, so far, everything works.
I have to buy a stupid security certificate because of Microsoft's driver signing, but I'll do that. (Steve Ballmer, you suck!)
I'm going to write a proper installer this time, and I'm talking with ID about including PARIS 3.0 files in the installer because the original PARIS 3.0 installer is 16 bit and doesn't run under Windows 7 64.
Edmund has been really supportive of this project. Whenever I was stuck and asked him a question, he took the time to give me a thoughtful answer. He's been really great. I hope I actually get to meet him someday.
I, too, am going to keep using PARIS until all my cards are dead and I can't get them fixed or replaced. Even then, I hear there are programmable dsp chips these days...

I managed to wordclock all three mecs of my project from same source ( 1st mec ) ! All three work synced perfectly so NO nedd for external wordclock
ALSO Interface 2 works along with Mec1's EDS card ( Main mec as seen by Paris ) So total ANALOG INPUTS 38 !!!!!
Yes 38 analog inputs on a 5U rack MEC as seen on my pictures attached on other post.
I did not count the SIX digital inputs because these are not everyday cup of tea... In case you have one or three outboard preamps with digital outs that can receive external clock ( From MEC's last out wordclock ) then you can have 44 total inputs still on a 5U rack hardware device called "3mecsINTO1". well just for reference...

That is a heavenly made project thanks to my engineer "Panagiotis" !!
He did a remarkable engineering job.
The idea was mine but he realized it !
Now I can have a portable rig consisting of 5U plus 4U for rack PC running P4 2.4ghz XP windows ready for either studio or LIVE recording !
38 inputs analog PARIS warm converters makes it a super system !
So as for to summarize:
1) Three mecs can work from internal clock
2) Interface 2 can work along with three mecs

I have Reaper locked up to PARIS and audio playing into the ADAT armed channels from Reaper.
The problem is that Reaper is sputtering for sync even when stopped, I've tried hours and hours of different settings with not one thing helping.... any ideas?Need more info - for starts, what audio card are you using for Reaper, and what sync method (ie SMPTE or 9-pin ADAT sync or...?) are you using, and what sync cable routing are you using?Reaper is Synced to PARIS via ADAT sync on older RME 9652 with
ASIO Position protocol selected in Reaper.
ADAT 9 pin from PARIS to RME, ADAT lightpipe out from PARIS to RME ADAT in & ADAT lightpipe out from RME to ADAT in on PARIS.
RME settings show synced to ADAT and the 8 channels of audio from Reaper via lightpipe to PARIS works fine.
That looks to be correct - looks like a Reaper settings issue. Their forum's very active, I'd try posting there too,Ok, I'll post there too.
What's crazy is that once sync is enabled in Reaper the editor screen get's jumppy trying to sync while stopped and when play is pressed on PARIS it's worse....
The audio is playing then stopping, then starting and stopping again randomly.
The transport in Reaper says Synchronizing then chasing back to synchronizing back to chasing randomly.
Arrrgh, my head hurts, lol.
So close...... and I don't want to go back mixing on HD so I have to figure this out.
Any ideas?

I'm also glad that you are working towards incorporating Paris with Reaper. Right now I have Reaper synced with Paris using MTC following Paris during play. However, when paris is stopped, editing in Reaper takes some coordination since the current control 16 is not compatible with Reaper.
Just like to say your approach with Reaper and control 16 is very innovative and I'm hoping for the best!

The beta ASIO driver that Kerry alluded to passed 16 bit audio only and crashed if it was closed and then reopened. There was no control panel and no c16 MIDI support. It was a very, very early build.
I'll get the new driver done as soon as I can. We had bad weather this week, so my mom wasn't able to come up and look after my daughter. That meant I got no PARIS time this week.
But, I'll be on this as soon as I can.

I've been reading up on Windows 8, and while it has some improvements, I am very concerned about the fact that new "Modern" apps can only be installed through the Windows Store.
I expect that over time, traditional apps will be deprecated and phased out like DOS was.
That means that eventually, Microsoft will have complete control over what apps can be installed on a PC. It also means that they will be able to remove any application from any Windows based PC for any reason without first getting permission. If a person doesn't agree to this, they can't use the Windows Store, and they can't install any "Modern" apps.
This makes me more than a little uncomfortable.
I think Windows 7 is going to be my last Microsoft OS and my last Microsoft product. They've just gone too far.
What do you guys think about this?
Do you think that Linux could offer an alternative for pro audio? I like the thought of OSX, but Apple is really no better than Microsoft, and I can't afford a Mac with PCIe slots anyway.
If not Linux, what would it take to make Ubuntu or some other user friendly Linux distribution attractive?
I'm thinking that down the road, I might do a Linux port of the Scherzo driver and see if I can get the PARIS app to run under Wine.
What do you guys think?

 I'd be glad to see that - and you know Reaper already works nicely under WINE, right? I was thinking about that. A PARIS hardware plug for Reaper would cover Windows and Linux that way.
The only thing I can think of needing would be UAD support. With that, Linux would be king.
A Linux driver isn't my first priority, but I think it's on my list.

MikeUAD support would definitely give Linux one of the things it lacks - some killer emulations. Another is virtual instruments - particularly a sampler that works well with existing libraries that some of us have invested substantial cash and years of editing in. There are a couple that are *almost* there. I just recorded 8 tracks simultaneously under Windows 7 64 without PARIS breaking a sweat.
 Oh man, this is amazing!!!I think where Linux could eclipse Windows would be MIDI timing and low latency audio drivers.
If what I've read is right, you can call a user mode function directly from a driver in Linux, while you can't under Windows. You have to signal the user mode app in windows, and then it calls the driver. This slows things down.
I had a Linux audio driver project fall through, but I bought two thick books on the subject and started reading one.
For me, I can't be without too many Windows only apps to switch to Linux, so I think my plan is just to boycott Windows 8. If I somehow end up with Windows 8 on a new laptop or whatever, I'll boycott the Windows Store.
Maybe Steve Ballmer will be fired and a new day will dawn on Microsoft. There is always hope.

In case you haven't heard of Leap Motion, check out www.leapmotion.com. It's a company who's about to release a very cool new 3D [hand & finger] gesture interface for computers. The leap device is 4" x 1.25" x .5" high. It connects via USB. It works like the hand gesture device in the movie Minority Report with Tom Cruise. I signed up to be a developer to create apps for the leap device. I'm going to do stuff with midi and to control DAW's. Check it out.

I'm just looking into how to do the installer for the driver and PARIS 3.0. Microsoft has one, but it only comes with the $800 version of VC++, and I don't have that version.
I just ordered a book on the Microsoft Installer (MSI files). It should be here Wednesday. I'm looking at other options, too. It looks like installers are a bigger PITA than I would like.
As a total aside, I think I may have just found a way to get Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 to have better MIDI timing and sync under Windows XP/VISTA/7. I was reading through my Windows via c++ for info on the Windows installer. I didn't find any, but I found some good hints on dll injection, and that could mean I can tighten up the timer for the process in two or three lines of code...

I just got the PARIS virtual MIDI driver to run under Windows 7/64. It only works in 32 bit apps, but I've currently got Cakewalk 9 syncing to PARIS via MTC, and that is very cool.
The second cool thing is that PARIS 2.0 depends on the Paris MIDI driver (it won't start if the PARIS MIDI driver is not present), and now it runs under Windows 7 64, too!
I've added PARIS 2 and the MIDI driver to the installer.

Hi everyone,
I've just spent some time digging through the vagaries of the PARIS clocking system.
This is how I now understand it from my tests and debugging:
Any clock coming into PARIS or generated from PARIS can be shared to another EDS card or MEC/442 once and once only.
For example, if I am running PARIS with internal clock, I can:
1) sync a second card to the first. And,
2) sync a second MEC/442 to the first MEC/442
If one tries to do a second jump, whether it is an interface or an EDS card, the 6th ESP chip occasionally locks up. This chip controls the timing of the card. When you hit play on the transport, the app updates a register in the sixth ESP chip.
If you ignore this and try to make a clock jump twice by, for example:
1) running a three card system with one interface. (the clock jumps from the first card to the second and the from the second card to the third). Or,
2) running a three card system with two or three interfaces without word clock.
The esp chip will occasionally lock up causing the PSCL to time out trying to write to the register and a delay before PARIS application GUI responds. This can manifest itself as a long delay after the PARIS app has opened but before the screen has drawn. Or, it can be a one second delay after pressing play before playback begins.
I know that people with larger setups have had submixes just refuse to play occasionally. Turning off the submix and turning it back on again would often fix it. I think this clocking issue is the cause.
I know that some people are having success running three or four MECs on internal clock, but it doesn't work reliably for me. Maybe some cards are more tolerant than others.
For me, with a 4 card system with two interfaces on the first two cards and on internal clock, the third card would very, very occasionally lock up. The fourth card would occasionally lock up. So, it seems to get worse the further from the clock source the EDS card is. With word clock, I didn't notice any trouble at all, but I seldom have audio playing from the fourth card, so I may just not have noticed it happening once in a blue moon on the fourth card.
I hope this helps someone track down some annoying bugs someday.

For an update: I got together with a semi-local PARIS user yesterday, and we had some trouble getting the driver to work on his Core i7 based system. The way I'm exposing the hardware memory to the PSCL didn't work on his computer even though it works perfectly on mine. I've got another solution 99% done, and I'm hoping it clears up the issue on his PC. I hope to know by the end of the weekend.
The installer worked almost perfectly. The registry entries, path update, PARIS 2 and 3 installs, and the PSCL install all worked perfectly. The new control panel for the driver installed, but wouldn't open. The scherzo drivers didn't install for some reason, but we were able to get them going manually. I'll be looking into these things.
That's the latest. It's getting there.

I'm using this new version and I'm loving it!
Smooth, stable and quick.
I still need to sort out installing my most important VST plugs (not so good at this sort of thing), and I'm playing around with some internal and external bussing options, but this is really great.
Mike has done a fantastic job of this. Though I'm not a full time mix engineer, I've made my living with my ears for 30 years in the music business, and for me, Paris is the closest ITB solution to mixing on a real console. I'm hybrid'ing it with external inserts and want to add a summing box or modded small console at some point, but to get a "better" result using any other approach, a whole lot more money would need to be spent.
For those of you still using Paris, I highly recommend this update.

The PARIS PThru driver is included, but it is a 32 bit "user install" driver, which means that only 32 bit apps can talk to it. The PARIS app remains 32 bit, so it works with the PThru driver. I may be able to extend it so that a 64 bit app could use it, too. But for now, as long as both apps are 32 bit, you can sync via MTC as usual.
As a work around, I found an application called "loop MIDI" that allows dynamically adding MIDI ports in Windows 7 64. I think that would allow synching between a 32 bit app and a 64 bit app. I've used it to sync Reaper to PARIS, but I was using the 32 bit version of Reaper.

PS "User Install driver" doesn't mean that you'll have to do anything special to install it. It's just the name Microsoft gave to a class of user mode drivers that existed in Windows 3.1 and continue to be supported in Windows 7 64 and beyond. It's also still the best way to do a virtual MIDI driver because the stream doesn't have to go through the kernel, which would slow things down.Mike,

UAD plugins are working as before with the double wrapping. Be sure you don't install the optional mono UAD plugins. They have a nasty echo with the FXSpansion wrapper.

About running paris under win7 64bits version, a few dumb questions to lucky owners/users. I'm not sure about the answers (i ask these before to do the jump, I'll need to purchase a vituavia if i do the upgrade, hence the questions) :
-does it support live mix ?
-can we finally use vst fx while in live mix directly applied on hardware inputs ?
-do the asio drivers show 8in / 8out / adat io in other apps ?
If I'm correct, to make it work on my machine, I'll have to install the regular paris 32 bits app and use the 64bits drivers ?
I'm actually trying to find a way to apply vst fx to hardware inputs, live, while keeping the paris system hardware and mixer.

Update for everyone:
I've been testing the driver with some brave souls, and there have been a lot of success, but some issues, too.
There seems to be a bug in some CPUs that makes sharing the EDS100 hardware RAM with the PSCL in 64 bit mode tricky. If I do it one way, it works on most systems, but not on all of them. If I do it another way, I get the same problem. On most systems, both ways work. I just finished up a build that tries up to three different ways (two ways really, with a variation on one of them) to map the RAM. So far, at least one of the ways works on every system we've tried. But, it's been tougher than I expected and taken some time.
There may be a timing issues to overcome, too; one system is getting stuck at initializing the timing chip (ESP F). I'll be working on that as soon as I can. Four other systems are working fine, though.
So, the driver isn't available yet, but I'm working as hard as I can to get it ready for you guys!

I was around along time ago on Chuck's old forums but with so much live playing the studio work has received very little attention. That's reversing for me now with the live going away and some recorded track opportunities so it's time to revive the PARIS system.
I figured with all the new changes that my Windows 98 with an Athlon 1.3 Ghz could probably use an update. If anyone has any thoughts or gotchas on my proposed ideas I'd appreciate it.
First the hardware. I'm looking at a MB with a PCI-E slot for the graphics and a PCI card slot. I have a Magma 13 slot that I will hang off of this and put the EDS and UAD cards in. Plan to use the PCI Magma host card and not switch that to a PCI-E host card. Machine could be an i5 Core machine; ~3.0 Ghz. I can go up to a i7 but I don't see the value. LGA-1155 for those caring about such detail. 2 gigs of RAM (if I can find two 1 gig sticks for sale....); might have to settle for 4. Two SDD drives; one for tracking and one for the OS. I figure if the constant tracking on the one drive shortens it's life at least the OS is still OK. Any archiving could be copied to an external drive. Video would be a quad nVidia; possibly the PNY card with the 4 MiniDisplay Port video outputs. I believe we were all in favor of the Matrox and ColorGraphic cards back in the day but nVidia seems to be about the only game in town now for a quad display (I only need 3). PARIS only; nothing else running on this besides PARIS and plug-ins.
Second the OS. With the progress on the drivers obviously something besides Windows 98 can now be used. XP or 7 would suffice but now we have the whole 64 vs 32 bit options. From what I'm reading here with no other programs running on the PARIS system I'm thinking staying at 32 bit would be best since it would guarantee fewer plugin hiccups. The 64 bit buys RAM use (not needed) and other benefits that do not seem to apply. Anything extra with sample libraries or big MIDI sequencing would probably be driven from another machine if I ever had a need for that which I don't foresee. Sounds like people have been adding RME 9652 cards and using Reaper into PARIS all on one system even on lesser hardware if for some reason I wanted to pursue that.
So, anything else I should be aware of having been out of the loop for so long?

It is hard to gather so much info from all hat posts...
1) So you finally managed to have Paris with any number of cards ( i have three ) attached each to own mec with any kind of modules work under XP and windows 7 and windows 8 ( dont care for that for now) wih ANY DAW that uses asio, right ?
2) Paris controller can work as a midi controller for that specific DAW ?
3) The "magic" of paris sound will be somehow lost due to "other" DAW routings but still Paris hardware and EDS effects are there !

I'll answer the questions in order
1) So you finally managed to have Paris with any number of cards ( i have three ) attached each to one MEC with any kind of modules work under XP and windows 7 and windows 8 ( dont care for that for now) wih ANY DAW that uses asio, right ?
The ASIO driver is separate from the 64 bit scherzo, but works with it. I still haven't finished this project, but, yes, all the interfaces on all cards will work with any ASIO host.
2) Paris controller can work as a midi controller for that specific DAW ?
Yes, the C16 sends MIDI data through a selectable MIDI port, and this can be picked up by any application that supports MIDI control.
3) The "magic" of paris sound will be somehow lost due to "other" DAW routings but still Paris hardware and EDS effects are there !
I think some of the PARIS magic is from the hardware, so that will still be there. I haven't managed to get EDS effects to work with the ASIO driver, but I'm going to look into it. This might have to be part of a follow up release because it would mean a big re-write.

I'm going back and forth on this one. I don't know if it's better to write a reaper plugin or start something from scratch. I'd really like to take PARIS from where it was in 2001 and extend it, though. I like the layout and the look. I don't have the same warm feeling towards Reaper, as great as it is.

MikeMy experience with this is that you need to have at least half as many interfaces as you have EDS cards. If you have 8 cards, you'd need interfaces on cards 1, 3, 5, and 7, with a word clock generator.
Having only one interface may work, but there are synchronization errors that lead to time-outs in the PSCL. This causes the PARIS app to become unresponsive for a second or so sometimes, and submixes will just not play sometimes.
With 4 cards, I'd have an MEC on card one, and a 442 on card 3 with a word clock generator. The Hosa one works great, and it's cheap.

Not trying to sidetrack this thread and admittedly I've been out of the loop here for quite a while so I would need to sit here and read all day to catch up on the current state of Paris and all of the work you have done.
Just wondering about something that might be, at least partially, relevant to this thread. Many years ago when SSC was still with us, a fellow Parisite who is a friend of mine and who knew SSC approached him about buying the Paris code. Nothing ever happened subsequently due to SSC's passing but one thing that stuck with me while I was in the loop briefly was that SSC's assertion was that the "sound" of Paris had everything to do with the software application.
Now I see you've got Cockos onboard using Reaper with the Paris hardware. Is the Paris DSP available on auxes and inserts in Reaper? Just wondering if that wonderful Paris headroom is still evident in Reaper.
Another thought I have involves the new UAD Apollo. They are reporting 2ms latency even with stacked plugins while recording in real time. I'm going to do some checking to see if these plugins can be bussed to the Apollo ADAT ports. If so, if it and the MEC were synced to a common clock source, you would be able to apply UAD2 plugins within the Paris GUI in pretty much real time.
For my purposes, something like this, with simple latency compensation, would provide that "best of both worlds" thing we've all been looking for.

I'm also onboard with the idea that the headroom aspects and "Paris sound" is related to the ESP2 DSP chips. Being able to use the Paris DSP and GUI and set auxes to Pre/Post while running UAD plugins while tracking and mixing would be very cool. The only gotcha' (there's always a "gotcha") is that using the UA Apollo in standalone mode will not retain the plugin and settings. Now if there was some way to use the Apollo driver via ASIO while still having access to the Paris DSP so that the UAD plugins could be instantiated as VST with recallable settings, I'd probably buy another Paris system. UAD plugins are the only ones I use these days so for my personal needs, having these along with those wonderful Paris plugs that have been developed would make my life complete.
They are making mainboards nowadays with Thunderbolt interfaces that work with Windows systems. Damn I wish I could win the lotto. I'd see if I could talk to Edmund about farming the code out to you.....I'll buy a ticket next Wednesday.

I don't know if you have started a notifications list of updated software/plug/driver/etc... items you have for sale but if one does exist I would love to be on it. I still have a working Paris rig (4 card, word clock, 3 MEC) but life has taken me down many roads and I don't spend much time on it these days. One of the kind members sent me notice about this thread from the 'old newsgroup'. Tip 'o the hat from one of the old guard PARIS guys.

I have Ubuntu installed and I'm slowly moving over myself. It will take time but I see it as necessary with the current direction everything is going. I just thought I'd report that with a timing fix for Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 that I came up with, I'm getting sub-millisecond MTC sync between Cakewalk and PARIS on Windows 7 64 using the pThru driver! The best I used to get between the two apps was 10ms, which completely sucked.
I'm going to have the 64 bit driver out this weekend. The delay is that I've been trying to work out permission to release a PACE free version of PARIS 3.0 with the driver, but the okay doesn't seem to be forthcoming. I'm going to wait until the weekend, and if I don't have permission to de-PACE PARIS 3.0, I'm just going to release the driver with the normal release version.
If anyone wants the fix for Cakewalk 9, let me know. It should fix its timing when slaved to any external app.

P.I'm having the same issue. I just built a Windows 7 computer waiting the arrival of this weekend's Windows 7 driver(thx Mike). My goal is to have two C16s controlling 32 tracks at a time without going to submix. Is this possible? I have some newly purchased 2 more MECs, 2x8in cards (so with what I have now that would make 3x8in cards), 1x8 out card, ADAT card, several 442s, and a PCI expansion chasis with 8 eds cards in it. I know I don't need all of this but in came in one lot. Any ideas how I can complete the goal? Just looking to record 32 tracks at a time with the capability of mixing 32 tracks without having to submix etc....

RonYou'll need 2 EDS cards to run 2 C-16s and 32 tracks without a submix. This is my set up with 1 MEC. I slave (hook up the EDS cables) per the manual.
Each EDS card can run 1 C16 and a 16 channel submix.
I only have 1 MEC with 2-8ins so I only record 16 at a time, but I mix via 2 EDS cards and 2 C16s up to 32 tracks.

Here is the cakewalk fix. I've circled the three important areas of the image.
In a 64 bit version of windows, open regedit and go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ CurrentVersion\Windows
On a 32 bit version of windows, just omit the Wow6432Node part.
open up the key AppInitDLLs. It is a space separated list. Mine was empty, so cakewalkFix.dll is the only entry. Add cakewalkFix.dll to the list in the value data box.
open up the key LoadAppInit_DLLs and set it equal to 1.
On a 32 bit windows, place cakewalkFix.dll in windows\system32. On a 64 bit windows, place it in Windows\SysWow64.
I'm not sure if you need to restart or not, but just to be safe, restart.
When Cakewalk is opened, it will load the dll, which will fix it's timing by calling timeBeginPeriod(1) before Cakewalk creates its timers.

It's going to take more time to get a pace free version of PARIS 3.0 that I can release.
My fallback plan for this weekend had been to release the standard PACE version of PARIS 3.0 if I couldn't get permission from ID to release a PACE free version.
What I discovered today is that the PACE version of PARIS 3.0 will not run at all in Windows 7 64, even with the latest PACE drivers installed. And, today I learned that approval for a PACE free version of PARIS 3.0 is going to take more time.
Should I release the driver with a PACE PARIS 3.0 that will not run? PARIS version 2 will still work.
Or, should I wait until everything is in place?
I'm feeling pretty low about this, but there is nothing I can do. Thanks to the crappy Conservative government in Canada, I could be up for a $1,000,000 fine and 5 years in jail if I break the lock and it is deemed to be for commercial purposes.
Even if it wasn't deemed commercial, it would destroy my relationship with ID, and I value that highly.
So, I just can't do it.
Having said that, in Canada at least, an individual breaking a digital lock is only on the hook for the damages that a company can show. And, since PARIS 3.0 is not for sale, those would be zero.
Let me know what you think I should do.

This has definitely got me energized to first get the ASIO driver done, and then work on a re-imagined custom app for the PARIS hardware.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently doing a clean install of Windows 7 after removing the pace driver didn't clear up the problems it caused.
1) IE crashed whenever the flash plug in was enabled
2) The flash installer crashed
3) the Visual C++ new project wizard would crash.
I'm sure that there are a lot more problems, but those are the ones I came up against. I spent the better part of the weekend trying to fix it and gave up last night.

Or should I wait for the 64 bit?I just finished getting the installer to work on Windows XP. It requires a restart, but it works. On windows 7 64, no restart is required.
I've also been digging into the issue 32 bit MTC not working in PARIS 2.1. I've installed PARIS 2.1 from the original installer and installed the version of the PThru.drv that came with the original XP driver, and it doesn't work on my system. Could it have really been broken for all this time, and no one noticed? Maybe it doesn't matter much.
In any case, it's not really well implemented anyway. 32 bit MTC is designed to get a sample start value from the PARIS app, and then it uses built in Windows timers to keep time. So, it's in sync at start time, and then it freewheels.
I could write proper MTC generation into the PSCL, and it could be turned on and off by a control panel if there is interest in synching a MIDI app to PARIS 2.1. If not, I won't bother.
I'm completely tied up until Sunday (my wife is in the Peterborough Symphony, and it is concert week). I think I'll release the installer then. I want to add the registry entries for the ASIO driver and test a bit more.
The installer is a single executable that will allow:
- The easy install of PARIS 2.1 and 3.0 on both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows, with no need to run additional updates.
- the east install of updated scherzo and PSCL drivers on 32 bit and 64 bit windows.
- it will install the PARIS MIDI driver on 32 and 64 bit Windows.
Know issues:
- to run PARIS 3.0 on a 32 bit windows, the PACE driver will need to be installed separately.
- though the installer will install PARIS 3.0 on 64 bit Windows, the PACE copy protection did not work for me. I'll leave the installation in just in case a future update of the PACE driver resolves the compatibility issue or someone else finds a way to get the PARIS 3.0 app to work with the current PACE driver.
If ID provides me with a PACE free version of PARIS 3.0, I'll update the installer.
Does this sound like a good way to proceed?

Mike If ID refuses to offer a De-PACED version, I wonder if ID would let you "fix" the Paris 3.0 issue with Windows 7 64 bit? ID was initially very helpful and supportive. Edmund provided me with a new PARIS.exe that was supposed to be PACE free, but it didn't work. He also provided the headers for the PARIS effects library, which are going to be really, really helpful.
At some point, and I don't know why, I stopped getting responses to my emails. After I called a couple of times and sent a further email asking specifically if I could remove PACE from the executable myself (to save them time given that they were busy), I got back a brief message that said they were busy and unable to help me right now. That's all I know.
I got the ASIO driver registry entries add to the installer this morning, and I've been back working on the ASIO driver. I'm going to give a thorough last look over the installer today and release it tomorrow. It's very cool that it runs on either 32 bit and 64 bit Windows and just works.

After I inquired with getting ahold of your tech I decided to tear into it myself as I dont think I could justify the cost especially overseas shipping working with your tech. I worked on it all day and successfully have 2 mecs combined into one. Mec A has 4 open slots and Mec B has 3 open slots. I Tested it last night and it worked. Passed audio and it acts just like normal. Everything shows up in the patch bay etc.Only thing I need to do is re cable the power supply as I believe it can handle both units since you only are actually running no more than you would if you had a pretty well stocked mec anyways. Only modification on the chassis is moving 2 of the card slot guides which is just a matter of drilling new holes in new position, an added mount for the 2nd short board, an additional mounting hole for the master front plate. And of course cutting the boards and combining the end termination with the new short board. I figured out a pretty easy way of doing that. That is what I tested last night. I havent cut the 2nd board yet but is just a duplication of what Ive already confirmed will work. I will post pics when it is all completed. I spent $2 on screws for the board mod. And whatever I need for the power supply recabling which I am sourcing out now.Hi All,

I started asking Edmund if I could remove pace myself about a month ago. A week ago, I got a response basically telling me to stop bugging him. I'm not sure what is going on at ID, but I think something has Edmund overwhelmed, and I'm not sure when that will change. I'm going to soldier on with the ASIO driver. The EDS card is "uknown multimedia device" in the device manager, is it how it should be ?
I tried to locate the drivers manually but with no success.
I thought that this new driver is simply a wizard and should install everything automatically, am I wrong ?

I had acces to a Bridgeport mill when in Idaho but now gotta do the drilling by hand. KB Audio preamps and "Rack Mac" computer I built using the Bridgeport for the drilling. Today I am jury rigging a PS cable and fire up both modded bords with some modules. Biggest pain was sourcing the parts to build longer PS cable. I will snake it around through the space between the back plane and front lower panel to the second card. I ordered a new 2nd power supply from skynet $39.00 if I decide to run with 2 power supplies but I think one should be OK since really it shouldn't have more draw than a pretty full mec chassis. Ill get better pics when finished.COOL !
You need two main boards though for them to work.
Maybe one power supply will be enouph anyways...
I guess you just don't have pictured the second mainboard MEC.

Yes the second Main section isnt in there. I moved, repositioned the board guides if you look close. It slides in there and mates with the second board.
Yes He is right. Each connecter has a termination cap thingy unique to it so have to cut after that point. the 4 card board worked.

Your Basic 32 channel rig + 8 ADAT I/O! (not counting the mec master section)
Lots of potential for modding these! The main Mec section could be squeezed down to a 2 slot width by relocating the front panel light section in the lower section. If I had access to the Bridgeport I would have done this. I really wanted a dual 4 slot mec.

The card sits very stable inside the PC chassis.
Windwos recognised it immediately after insertion.
And many known people uses the cards horizontally.

I got Paris 2 up and running OK with Mikes help (thank you Mike!) I did try to install 3.0 and it does nothing. I tried to install the Pace driver from my Win7 32 bit build which is a bit older version but no go. Or maybe I just did it wrong. I understand I cant legally run it until the pace thing gets sorted out but was just hoping to see if it would at least run in demo mode for a period just to see how it did..

laurentPARIS is ancient. It will only import WAV files that 1) are 16 bit and 2) do NOT contain the modern .bwf file headers.
A PC app called stripwav used to be the community's app of choice to convert WAV files for PARIS use but the last I looked it hadn't had any updates in a decade that might justify continuing to recommend people keep paying for it; instead, I'd recommend you download Reaper and Xenakios' libsndfile wrapper extension to do the job and enjoy a thousand times more functionality while you try it free for 30 days.Kerry,
I load 24bit wav files in PARIS on Win 7 x64, stripwav works on x64 also (run in admin mode).
It will only process 9 files before a restart (without a code) because it is shareware but it works.
The problem of importing files bothers me not so much actually.
Wavelab converts to SD2 very well and it has a batch converting utility where you can choose 1000 wavs or aifs and convert them all to SD2 by one mouse click.
Today I have tried the FX section. Very cool Tape Delay, sounds like Eventide H3000 multitap.
Choruses are very thick amd warm. I had DP4 in the past and always liked the modulation in it.
Plate reverb is also very interesting.
The most kick ass thing is what Paris stock converters are so so so beautifull for their todays funny price to get.
I had Protools Mix with 888 and 888/24 converters. So PT stock converters are pain for the ears actually. Very dirty highs, muddy lows and total unmusical sound. Ofcourse the problem was solved when used Apogees instead of 888, but they're cost the money $$$.
Also I have Merging Pyramix and used it with their own Merging DUA ADC/DAC and that was totally thin, dry sound. When hoocked up an Apogee AD-16 the situation went OK, but always something was totally missing in the sound. OK but .... can't say great.
But Paris converters are just the PRESENT. Thanks so much for all the support! There is going to be a maintenance update as soon as I can test one more system. I found a bug this morning that affects some systems and not others. It's fixed. I also fixed an issue that prevented 8 in cards in the higher number MEC slots from being detected. I'll be email the new installer to everyone that bought it.

2 mecs (MecDuet) in one. Four slots in Right Mec A and 3 in Left Mec B. The space in the middle on Front Panel is where 4th card resides in Mec A . I would have had to cut the 2nd mec front plate and remove the indicator lights and didn't feel it necessary as the Output card in that slot doesnt have any front panel anyways. Actually any card will work there without a front indicator panel. the absence of it does not cause any issues except not seeing leds.
Power supply cable parts, crimp connectors,crimp tool, wire about $75.
I did all the drilling and cutting myself so no outside cost for that.
500 for someone to do this as a first time endeavor is not unreasonable. Most of the work is planning figuring out where to cut and the mechanical stuff, drilling, cutting.
The electronics actually was the easiest part.

24 at once channels for me is enough. This will do 32 so I'm ok with that plus additional adat IO so its versatile for me. Not fully tested yet. Only prob I am having is gettting sync via word clock. Using ardvark with bnc to each unit works but tried my presonus adat bridge as master and daisy chaining doesn't. I need to try a terminator for that scenerio which I havent. It might be the issue. I still think the old mac os9 runs Paris better but I dont have as much experience on the pc side. Some more testing this week... make sure it is road worthy.

DimitriosHow does it show up in the patch bay? The same as having two normal MECs with all the cards labeled the same?Yes, It functions just like to separate normal Mecs. Patchbay config is the same. If in my case a four slot and a 3 slot unit, it still displays all 9 slots but since you physically can only put X number modules in that particular mec, only those that are present show up in the appropriate slot. Slots 5-9 in the four slot mec are displayed but since you can't put a card in the non existant slot, it doesn't matter. In other words... empty slots displayed is a software function. What shows up in the slot when is a combination of the hardware there and the software seeing it.
You can run one eds card with one Mec if you want, the other one will just sit there doing nothing. They are not tied together in any way except for being the same box. In my case, they share the same power supply but that only means both units will be on but still are seperate entities as far as Paris is concerned. For a multi eds card set up you still have to do all the same things as far as syncing them together.
Update
All is working fine with Mec Duet. Just did another... 4 slot X 3 slot, reducing all the mecs Ive collected over the years.

What I have observed with my set up.
In the case where you are syncing multiple devices with an external Word Clock, Paris Mecs seem to sync better with the external Word clock to Master Mec and then daisy chain from Clock OUT there to next Mec in line as opposed to separate Word Clock BNC to each. That is my experience anyways.
Using direct BNC to each it jumps multiple times and then settles with one synced and the other not. then switch to internal back to external to get them both synced. I tried the daisy chain method and it syncs the master mec first and then the next.

This is the "native" file format of Paris. 16 or 24 bit, 44.1 or 48.
BTW, I have no trouble loading 24 bit wav files into Paris.
I've left Paris twice for other systems and approaches and even in 2013 have come back
to it. I've used SSL, Lavry, Burl, and now Metric Halo ULN-8 converters and am amazed at how open the Paris converters are. The other thing I notice immediately when loading files into Paris is that the transients change. This may be good or bad depending on what you want... interesting nonetheless.
TedBy Slave to Logic, I guess you'd have to have ADAT sync. You would need to run both audio and sync from the Logic box to the MEC (RME 9652?) It is possible to do this with Reaper and Paris within the same physical computer.
The thing with ADAT in Paris though, is that it's 20 bit (not 24). Not a big a deal, as folks in the past have said there is no audible difference but you should be aware of that...
TedLogic can transmit MTC to Paris Midi Output.
But Paris can't see this signal.
I have opened Midi Configuration tab in Paris
and assigned Paris Midi Input as MTC input.
But still no result. Maybe I forgot something or it is not even possible ???Ted,
I'm also back with PARIS full time again after leaving for PT, Logic and others.
I only left because I was working in Atlanta full time and everybody uses PT, so I had to convert.
I had recorded and mixed many records over the years and I noticed that as my skills kept improving my all digital modern mixes didn't sound as good as my old PARIS mixes.
As I spent months slowly listening to 20 years worth of my own work I noticed a few things:
When mixing digitally:
1. My PARIS mixes always had more low end thickness, less harsh top end, better feel and depth with the ability to listen to them longer after they had been maximized! I also notice my newer digital mixes had a wider stereo field, tighter low end (but much hollower, without any real low end blending) and wore on me after maximizing.
My other digital mixes were with all the top DAW's with many different converters in many different studios, from the smaller to some of the best in the US. I had my work from major singles with major artists to unknown upstarts to listen through, but I kept a log of my thoughts on all of my work with no personal preference, just me listening for my own truth.
When mixing Analog:
PARIS to SSL 4000 or Neve 80 series makes me tear up as the the punch, depth and size I can get is inspiring.
Other digital DAW's to many different analog boards brought me great results also but always ran second to my PARIS analog mixes.
Now....
At that honest realization I pondered to myself what I was going to do.
I knew going back to analog was out for me, I also knew that a hybrid setup might work but I didn't want the overhead and cost.
That's when I got into Nebula..... WOW!
My mixing life changed and I now have my current method.
I now Mix in Reaper with Nebula (Nebula allows me to negate PARIS shortcomings) , then print my Nebula files and render the files into PARIS where I mix with a smile and then Master in Wavelab using Nebula again.
Took me a while, but it's sonic heaven without the cost for me.
What means "Nebula" ? ..Acustica Audio Nebula
It's a VST plugin that has me not missing my analog console because of what it does.
IMHO there is nothing better inside the box once you get your workflow down.

Grab the full version & the third party libraries to really unlock Nebula. The free version just touches the surface. Just Grab The Alex B consoles with AITB Fate & Doc Fear EQ's, Cupwise Comps, Gene Lennon's Reverb & CDSoundMaster R2R with Tape Booster.

I use Reaper and go track by track using up to 7 Nebula's to get the track sound perfect then I freeze the track down, while keeping the original muted. I then inactive the Nebula's on the original muted track so if I want to make and changes later I can easily.
After I've gotten everything the way I want I then export all tracks & pull them into PARIS to mix.
After I bounce the PARIS mix I'll pull the mix into Wavelab and then Master using 4-6 Nebula's and Slate FX-G to maximize.
I find this the best of both worlds... Nodern DAW plugs with PARIS sound.

Actually the problem has been solved.
It turned out that the MEC should be ON when the LOCK button is pressed. I was experimenting with sync when the MEC was OFF.
Now everything works just great.
Paris slaved to Logics MTC. And this setup has pretty good sample accurancy I did not expected that !!! )))

I love the Nebula stuff too. Had a producer of a Grammy nominated artist here a few years back when I had just started using Nebula. He was just done with her latest CD and they had their choice of his physical plate verb, a real EMT 140 plate at another studio where they tracked and the Altiverb Wendy Carlos plate which they used for a variety of reasons. I loaded up a guitar track and installed a VNXT 140 plate from Nebula on it, and his jaw literally hit the floor. Well, not really, but he was shocked.
He then stocked up on the Nebula stuff himself.

In the past, I could never get my PARIS setup with a virtua via chassis to pass more than a handful of channels under windows xp before I got crackles.
I just tried it under Windows 7 64, and it is playing 32 channels over two cards perfectly!
I still have to test recording a bunch of tracks, but this bodes very well for the future of PARIS in a PCI-less world!
I'm using an Gigabyte AMD 790 based motherboard, so there is no reason to think that the newer AMD chipsets will be any different.
I've got the virtua via host card in one of the two PCI slots intended for graphics cards - this puts the PCI channel on the north bridge on the CPU (fast) instead of the south bridge (slower).
For the record, I think that the people at virtua via are a bunch of jerks because I sent several support requests about both my PARIS and UAD cards not working well, and they didn't even have the courtesy to write me back. However, there are other companies selling basically the same hardware, and the virtua via system does seem to work!

I have a magma that will work under windows 7, but will not work under win 8.
Sort of weird actually- when I have the HD with win 8 install in the computer, it will not even post if the magma is connected. Pop out the win 8 drive and put in win 7 and no problem.
Win 8 must be doing something weird with the bios, because it actually wont even post with the win 8 drive in the PC.
Totally bewildered.

Can I just upgrade to Windows 7 and add the driver or do I have to go through the process of loading Paris again? I have the latest Pace driver. By the way I bought the latest Slate Virtual channel and it is GREAT!!! Talk about having the fatness of Paris and this Slate VCC is unbelievable!I think it is is a branded Lenovo motherboard. I bought an Ideacentre K30. I used to buy components and assemble my own towers, but just don't have the time anymore. Also, the last time I built a new machine was like 5 years ago and I feel like things have changed so much I wouldn't know what to get. It doesn't have any PCI slots, so I got a new expansion chassis. A Magma that is a pcie to PCI.
At any rate, I needed a new PC for home and for work, so I got this box with the plan that if it didn't work well, I would just take it to to my office and regroup on a home entertainment\audio box.
Anyway- that is how I discovered this weird Win 8 quirk. I pulled the hard drive out and put in a fresh one that I installed Win 7 64 on. No problem. It boots and the OS sees the Scherzos after I install the driver package. Remove that hard drive and put in the win 8 install and the computer will not post. The box turns on but the fan spins really fast and it wont post- just hangs. Win 7 drive back in, no problem. Disconnect the cable running from the Magma host card to the chassis- no problem, will boot with Win 8 drive in.
Quirky. At this point, I have given up on Win 8 for my desktop. I have a Samsung win8 tablet that I really like, but I am going back to windows 7 for my desktop.

The new installer includes options for installing PARIS 3.0 and 2.1. So, you don't need the original installer anymore. However, because of the PACE copy protection embedded in PARIS 3.0, PARIS 3.0 will not run under Windows 7 64, even with the PACE driver installed.
If you wanted to use PARIS 3.0 on a 64 bit windows, you could contact ID and see if they will give you a pace free copy or permission to remove the PACE copy protection yourself. They wouldn't even address the question when I contacted them.

PS - I'm checking out vcc demos right now. I ordered the driver today. I have a question. If I pick the 3.0 version do I have to get the license from Intelligent Devices for the Paris program to get it up and running again? And, if I already have the latest Pace driver do I have to reinstall it?The Slate VCC is a very interesting plugin. I've been using it for a week and I like some of the sounds. Like most amps, the more you drive it the more saturation you hear...so there can be some distortion...good or bad...depends I guess.
As for the character of the different consoles they do have their own different flavor...but at some point you'll find that if you can hear the contrast...it might be too much.
I like it because it can give a track a little more warmth and presence making it easier to mix. I think it's nice to have.
I find that the VCC is really good on vocals if you want to get it really out front and full or if a guitar or bass part is a little wimpy it will put in your face with warmth. I've tried it on every track and it tends to get muddy have to watch the saturation. But when you are used to the warmth of Paris it just adds a little edge and analog headroomHi Ron,
If you're just going to update the driver on an existing 32 bit PARIS system, I don't think it will affect the PACE activation that is already in place. Just make sure that you de-select the PARIS 3.0 option in the installer.
If you're installing PARIS on a new 32 bit system, you'll need to install the PACE driver (I'm not sure if it being the latest/greatest matters) and send ID the challenge code that comes up.
On a 64 bit system, the PACE code embedded in PARIS.exe does not work, even with the latest/greatest PACE driver installed. In fact, not only did PARIS not work, the PACE driver broke my Windows 7 64 system so badly that I had to reinstall Windows from scratch.

If the PARIS driver could appear as an ASIO host then it could communicate with a program like "Jack" and pass audio to and from other applications without the need for an additional sound card to stream Adat (for example).
I don't know how much additional work that would be, but seeing as Jack already exists, maybe it would not be so much work.
Obviously being able to natively access Paris via some kind of Reaper extension would also be awesome, but I wonder if this might be a quicker result?

I have owned a paris system since just before it got discontinued by emu (doh!). I love it but some of the issues I have with it are frustrating.
I had it stored while I moved. built a project studio space and now am resurrecting the system to record some demos for my band and improve my recording and mixing skills.
I just registered on this site recently but had checked in occasionally in the past just to see if the paris commumnity was alive and kicking! I am impressed by all the work that has been done by you guys to keep it going!
I have a few issues I hope you can help with. I have looked at the wiki page but haven't seen the exact issues listed, though some are similar: I will give some details on my rig, then a few questions: I had someone build me a new machine back in the day:
Windows XP, home edition version 2002, service pack 2
AMD athlon 1.14 ghz (single core I believe) 1 GB RAM
Paris 3.0
2 paris eds1000 cards, 1 8in on the master mec
I believe the driver I have is dated 7/30/2002. version 3.0.3.0, is this Beta 3?
1) Do I need to update to service pack 3 for XP?
2) I suspect I need to update my driver. What version do you recommend for my system? I will gladly purchase it.
3) I get a blue screen error like "driver_corrupted_mmpool" "beginning physical memory dump" (I don't like my machine "dumping"). This sometimes occurs upon exit, or the program locks and I have to shut down the computer. I will get this message: paris.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry...and so on. Then the blue screen message noted above.
4) Another error I get(most often in the editor window I think) : assertion failed file cache.c:462offset>=0&&off<p->count.
5) Has any one experienced this this: Upon booting paris, (and this happens only randomly, not every time) I get a loud repetitive chirping coming from my powerered monitors, but it stops after I open a project, and things generally work fine after that. It comes out of the headphone jack as well I think.
6) More issues seem to occur after I've been editing a while, is this common?
Any help will be appreciated. It seems updating the driver might be the first step?
p.s. I should probably mention that I bought a eds card from east coast music mall when I was expanding my system, and when I received it, it was covered with this white scale, as if it had literally been sitting on the east coast, I mean on the beach. I paid quite a bit for it too. I cleaned it as best I could and installed it, as I didn't know if I would find another one, at that time, and it seemed to work so I kept it.

Mike Audet's revamped, debugged and expanded drivers are available at his website (link in the header above) and although your existing drivers will work fine his do come with that rarest of PARIS treasures, one we'd almost forgotten about: tech support Grab the new driver from Mike, he's spent years just making it better.

The last time I heard from Edmund, I felt I was treated with contempt. I'm not saying that's what Edmund intended, but that's how it read to me and how I felt. I'm not going to put myself in a position where I'm repeating that kind of negative interaction. So, I don't see myself contacting him again. He may surprise me and send me an email with all kinds of great things - he may even apologize - but I'm not expecting anything.
In short, do whatever you think is best.
I've been completely swamped with web work for the last few weeks, and I probably will be for the next month or so, but I have started moving more of the PSCL into the scherzo. This is for two reasons: 1) It should have been there in the first place 2) I'm trying to get a deeper understanding of how the application programs the effects into the EDS cards so I can write my own library to do it. I'd then use this in the ASIO driver and whatever comes next.
While I have very little hope that anything more will come out of ID, I'm not crying over it. I'll just carry on.
I really like the PARIS app, and I'll keep using it until I can write a killer ASIO driver that does zero latency monitoring, C16 control, and loads the EDS effects. That's what I'm looking to do.

I just got going with the new drivers on my new system. Got paris up and I am installing my plugins. Question- how do I go about installing all the aftermarket EDS plugins like heart beat, etc?
I have a read me file that is directing me to copy the files into the windows\system\ensonic\plugins but that directory does not exist as far as I can see.
Any advice?

Okay, I am an idiot, I forgot I needed to do a configuration and uncheck "disable DX" and also I needed to set the VST path. But same question about the EDS effects---have not figured out what I am doing wrong yet.

The EDS plugins get dropped into one of two places depending on your Windows version:
32 bit Windows: windows\system32\ensoniq\plugins
64 bit Windows: windows\syswow64\ensoniq\plugins
There is no need for the effects subsystem update or path changes. They are built into the installer.

I just sent an email to Slate Audio letting them know I would not be buying their product because of the iLok and what has happened with PACE, PARIS 3.0, and 64 bit Windows.
If there is any good to come out of the PACE/PARIS debacle, it is as a prime example of why digital locks should be illegal.

Mike, I installed a fresh windows 7 pro 32 bit and the new pace driver and the PARIS driver just checked the 2.0 install and when I try to open a project I get
Error code: 1879048225/70000021 When I installed the pace driver it asked for the installation code but I could not get it to enter anything then it just went into a install.
