------=_NextPart_000_0037_01C6DD67.6DA0E9F0--Hi, Tom.
I'm at a loss.
In the absense of a Steinberg/vstplugins folder, the install creates a folder
in the Program Files directory called "solid state logic". It dumps the SSL
LMC-1.dll there.
I just moved it, as you did , into my Paris VST plugins folder,
and it showed up.
Are you sure you moved it to the very folder that Paris's config
is pointing to?
I assume you are using XP.

So....
If someone wanted to pick apart a mix in a technical way.....
to see what techniques were used to create the mix...
using tricks such as reversing phase on one channel
to cancel all mono sources......
what tools would one use?

what other tricks are there to perform?

thanks,

------=_NextPart_000_00A0_01C6DD87.EA3B5C00--Gary, I have used nothing but Seagates for 5+ years now.

No failures of any kind.

As far as noise, I don't know what the difference is between the 2,
and I can't imagine it would be an issue with the drive inside a
computer case or other enclosure.

If you want to be sure, go on their website and give them a call
about it. They answer their phones and the phone support people
are quite informed.

>I think I'm pretty good at this. I built a box that does just what that plug
in I just posted for winamp does. You can break down the stereo image to
see what's going to what channel and also reverse phases to make sounds stand
out and hide so you can isolate better. Start with some old beatles songs
or anything with radical stereo and then compare with your desired source.

Listen carefully for relative levels of delay, reverb, chorus, tremelo, distortion
and how instrument textures contrast each other. Nasty distorted bass with
screaming guitar (Van Halen). Note pan positions and the soundstage that
is presented. I love the Rolling Stones "It's only Rock and Roll" (check
it out for sure), cuz it sounds like 2 guitars and there's like 4 or 5 all
over.

Use EQ to find the center frequency range of instruments to help isolate
them too by using high and low passes together to isolate the instrument
you want.

Of course this is all in headphones and the better they are the more you'll
hear. If anyone wants to send me a $500 pair of headphones feel free. I'm
dying for a pair. hehe

NG still exists. So, some questions: Will cloning your system drive
lose the Paris reg/ilok or whatever the hell it is? Also, I've got a
two card set up with a MEC and want to add my old Interface 442. Do
they have to be clocked to each other? I'm also looking for a friendly
tech to help me work out a patch bay/routing scenario (I'm near
Hollywood and this is not a request for a freebee). Oh, and are there
any LA (or greater LA) folks mixing professionally on Paris these days?

Guess that'll do it for the time being. Thanks very much in advance.

All the best, JimOh, so you have an earliency problem?????????

DCHmm, we'll need to travel to Paris to the Louvre and stare at The Last Supper

RAID or uncommonly fastidious backups are the only way to guard against drive
failures. A particular band won't help.

be noticably louder than the 7.2k brothers.

I wouldn't center and brand names too much. All drive makers have had good
and bad moments, though Maxtor certainly was the one who most recently got
a bad rap. I've been using mostly Seagate drives for a while, but when I've
seen deals on other brands I'll take them unless there is a really good reason
not to.

If your mobo has a RAID controller think about using it. There's nothing
quite as pleasant for a computer geek as a drive failing and it slowing workflow
down for twenty minutes with nearly zero chance of data loss.

Rod,
They were different and now they're both 4.3.
Wrapper ver 3.3 won't finish now. I get a
"Windows has encountered an error and is closing
the Wrapper." or something. It never finishes the task.
All my plugs are working except Pultec-Pro and SSL
Talk Back Comp. =20

I'm contacting UA on this one. I hope they treat me=20
better than Gene!

Tom, check your sys info in the UAD performance meter. I'm guessing =

------=_NextPart_000_0054_01C6DDDA.6C4136A0--Hello Dimitrios!

I bought my Paris v3 as a standalone and it is still in it's original CD
jewel box case.
A simple white sticker on the case reads:

E-MU Paris Pro Key Number
XX-XXXX-XXXX
Keep this number for future installation
Paris authorization!

The license is written into the EULA. The above X's are all numbers, but
yours
appears to have ten alpha numeric key as well.

> EMU PN CDxxxxx does this mean anything at all ?

That is printed onto the CD itself and is only a Part Number.

From your description you look okay but the proof is when ID approves
with a response code. Other than that, there was no fancy license sticker
like what you might find on a MS product.

Regards,

El Miguel

1) Paris rocked.
2) Tried a LDC and even a SDC on toms and couldn't believe what I've =
been missing!
3) Found out the threads on my old SM7 are stripped and couldn't use it.

Just another day but it was a learning experience that was great.
I wish the horn players 'listened' more closely to their phrasing, =
intonation etc..
Kinda rough around the edges for a seven horn band. Playing things just
a little beyond their ability in some cases. It is jazz though.

The mixes will be work but fun.

Depends on which band you are speaking of. Some bands are
helpful indeed.

sorry...

As far as manufacturers, there are significant failure-rate
differences among them, in the experience of hard users in the editing world.

YMMV

My favorite tom mics are AKG 414 B-ULS - I've done quite a few
sessions with these mics on various kits. I KNOW what you've
been missing, since I don't personally own any 414's at this
time.

Hi, Tom.
I'm at a loss.
In the absense of a Steinberg/vstplugins folder, the install creates =
a folder

I assume you are using XP.

Many great points and many great posts. In the end, I decided on the =

I haven't cranked it yet as I 'just' finished up and need more than 4 =

Snags some pics along the way if anyone has any interest, I'll post 'em. =

Aaron,
Yes indeed. Not sure but maybe I got a faulty download?

silly question probably. Did you rescan with the wrapper after moving =
it there?

Kim,
Yes it's in the right folder. Everything else that's there works
except of course the Pultec-Pro... I'll try again.
Thanks!

Hi, Tom.
I'm at a loss.
In the absense of a Steinberg/vstplugins folder, the install =
creates a folder
in the Program Files directory called "solid state logic". It =
dumps the SSL
LMC-1.dll there.
I just moved it, as you did , into my Paris VST plugins folder,=20
and it showed up.
Are you sure you moved it to the very folder that Paris's config=20
is pointing to?
I assume you are using XP.
Kim

etty penny.
I'd consider a few more just to be able to get all of the toms with
the same sounding mic. I'd couldn't put my vocal 414EB TLII on
a tom in good conscience.

Do you mic the bottom head much? I never do but now wonder=20
what I'm missing there?
