is...eh... special in many ways :-)

Sissys who like their mixes properly represented, without
distorted truncation artifacts, perhaps.

:)

NeilIn a crowded, in-your-face, pop/rock/etc mix in Paris, direct truncation to
16 bit works just fine. To drag the mix into those native apps, make them
sound so ...native :-)

I assume this is the dude who emailed me. He said that he bought a copy but
it has been misplaced. He said that Chuck would be able to verify that he
paid for it, but I get the impression that he would probably be willing to
pay again anyhow if it came to that.

So, without verifying with Chuck, my understanding is that he already contributed.
That's all based on what he told me of course, so who knows. I would guess
that he will contibute if required anyhow. I think he just used to have a
copy, you can no longer officially buy them, and he wants to get a copy again
somehow. I don't think there's any ill intent.

Cheers,
Kim.

using for playback? IOW, I wonder if it could be crashing
because you don't have an ASIO-compliant soundcard/driver?

I've had Cubase crash or lock up only a few times, but it's
only been when I've inserted some new plugin I'm trying that
happens to have poorly-written code, or is a CPU pig to the
extent that it puts everything over the top & causes the lockup.
I don't beleive I've ever had it crash on on a stable rig under
any other circumstances (although on my last rig before this
one - there were some mobo/chipset issues - it locked up a few
times on that one, but then other funky things would
happen that didn't occur on my current rig or the one prior to
that imtermediate one - like losing sync with word clock from
time to time, for example, so there was some PC hardware funk
goin' on there.)
