Tom, you may find it useful to print out an excel trouble shooting chart =
and check off the items as you tag them good/bad. I find that keeping up =
with 'everything' on a deal like this (IE, never enough time to just do =
it all in one sitting) is just about impossible. Label each 'part', give =
it a proper set of troubleshooting criteria (like say, SCSI cable 1, 2, =
3, 4 or EDS 1,2,3,4 and label each part with gaff tape). If you come up =
on a bad MEC, pull all expansion cards and make sure that's not biting =
you. Don't forget to mark what expansion came from what slot in what =
MEC.=20

Just be methodical man, I know you'll find it.=20

I plan to install Paris on another comp, try each EDS

ch SCSI cable individually with the 442. =
If
all goes well or not I will have an answer. Next, try the =
same in=20
the actual Paris rig without the Magma. If I can get regular
Paris boots there then it's the Magma power supply
or Magma cable. I'm thinking power supply. I always
had all 5 EDS cards showing even when the hardware
attached to them wasn't.

Does this sound like a logical approach to you?
I'm sick of chasing my tail.

I don't s'pose it could hurt if they're tarnished. My =
experiences though with the issue your seeing have been bad SCSI cables. =

Start small, test every little component, unless you've got =
a bent up input pin somewhere (and I'd light them well and magnifying =
lense them all) I'm having a hard time buying that you have 4 dead =
cables out of the blue though, something caused that if it's the case.=20

Aaron,
Hyperthreading is off. I'll double check though. I'd =
love to save the money
on those scsi cables.

What do you think about Deoxit in the female scsi jacks?

This might be flogging the rented and dead mule, but you =
did verify that dual core was off in this equation, and hadn't been =
flipped back on by a gremlin?

Ya Jeff,
At least half the times no C-16 was attached.
Do you think that a bad C-16 cable could cause these =
issues?
I'll remove them from the setup until all is well.
I know at least a few times it worked that the C-16 =
did also.

Tom,

Stupid question, but did you ever start up without =
any c16's? If so did=20
you see the same issue?

Jeff
