bAccording to my defragmenter results report both my
OS and AUDIO drives are formatted with 4kb Cluster size.
This is good for the OS correct? BUT not for the Audio drive COrrect?
The Audio drive should be something larger like 128k or something correct?
How can I change this without removing all the data from it?

I'll say this aout the Scope stuff, it's stable as hell, to be
sure - now I'm only using it as an external summing thingy, but
once I got it set up on a 2nd PC (so I wouldn't have the 88.2k
clocking issues I had with it on the same PC as my Cubase rig)
it hasn't glitched yet. I STILL wish I could have a one-box
solution, though. Drives me crazy with frustration just at the
thought of having to use two PC's for nothing more than a
summing app on one of 'em. If the PTHD core cards & propreitary
i/o's didn't cost so much..... ARRRRRRGH!!!! lol
Chuck wants a laptop solution, though, doesn't he? so I don't
think the Pulsar stuff is the way to go for him, if that's the
case.
NeilSounds like you need to divest yourself of anything battery operated,
plus go with a less wobbly recording system.
Ivory is an excellent piano plugin. It can run directly on any OSX or
WiXP sequencer.
One mic, one preamp/audio interface, a simple computer (is there such a
thing?) and a simple sequencer. The rest is distraction.

Just trying to think of what might be common/easy to find at
short notice, and not overly expensive if you have to buy:
Piano: Couple of AKG 414's of any stripe, or BLUE Bluebirds @
the G.C. there in yer town.
Cello: RE-20, Senn 421, or TLM-103
Soprano: Shit, no telling - when it comes to live, voice is the
hardest & easiest at the same time, ya know? A regular or Beta
58 might be fine, but see if you can also get ahold of a Senn
441 or any of the higher-end stage condensers that won't be
obtrusive & in her face like a big studio mic would be.
Flute/Clari: Any decent cardioid LDC, really, would probably
work in this situation... it's more about positioning, IMO.
Something like an AT4040 might be nice for this - pretty
smooth, not too overly bright, obtainable/not very obscure or
hard to find.

Just installed a mobo and drives in one of these along with at very quiet
PSU. Nice case. All HD slots are shock mounted. Big fans that can be set to
low RPM and still have plenty of airflow. It's quiet enough for control room
duty.DJ, how big is the PCI slot area, could an EDS fit length wise in there?
I got a silent case last year, I forget the model now, but the EDS card was
like 1/4" too long so I ended up returning it.

a PIII 450MHz (or maybe 550 now?) with 128 meg of ram and I think an 8 gig
hdd (might be only 6.5... don't recall). I imagine it's got a 300 watt power
supply or so. I'd be surprised if average consumption was 100 watts.
It's running an APC UPS which the guys here funded as you may recall. I'm
running what is basically an exceptionally high end home router. It can handle
about 1500 pipes running through it, and I'm pretty sure it's just one user
to one pipe for NNTP or the web interface (unless maybe someone opens multiple
web windows). This place really doesn't get anything close to 1500 though.
We probably get 100-200 users log in over a day, and not all at once...
perhaps maybe 20 people at once. Bandwidth usage is low here because it's
all text based.
The PC running the show though has zero trouble keeping up. Yes, you do get
delays in pages coming back at times, however I can tell you that this is
a combination of the internet bandwidth / connection, as well as some of
the power saving settings I'm using which I believe power down the HDD and
such after no use for a period. If I'm at home, on the inside of the net
connection, and I click refresh, or click around posts, the response is pretty
much instant. The server responds noticably quicker than any other page anywhere
on the internet that i've seen, even on mega quick connections.
I would suggest, and I'm largely guessing, but with a site with say 3,000
daily visitors you would still get by very comfortably on any half decent
modern machine. 3,000 visitors means perhaps 1,000 as a max logged on at
any one time, and of course mostly people are reading, not requesting pages,
or even off making a coffee. You'd be very unlucky to get 100 simultaneous
page requests. Even if you did, if you run a gig of ram you'll have most
of the top pages already in the memory buffer ready to spit out on request.
Once again, to get by on the cheap, you could just use a decent (APC?) UPS
to keep it online.
Beyond that you need a fast enough net connection, and a router to protect
you and direct the traffic.

DAWs (different mobo/chipset) and after one false start, I was able to
delete the partition and it's right about 80% on a fresh NTFS format right
now (whew!!!)

listed on the company answering machine directory lists because they are too
damn cheap to hire anyone to answer the phone. It's pretty easy to go to the
net and get their address and phone. It's amazing the response you get when
you say to them, "well, since your company won't fix it for free, can you
handle this personally if I just send it to your place at 4524 Maple Drive?"

Finally got it after cleaning out (including a couple pointers in the
registry) and reinstalling all to default directories. For some reason,
the effects subsystem wouldn't go anywhere else for me.

I would like to ask:
My pulsar card is wordclocked from Mytek so the spdif input of the card ,probably,
is driven from this clock.
FIRST QUESTION: I have a prototype AD converter (very nice) that has spdif
output. Now connecting this output to the Pulsar spdif input would the ACTUAL
ad converter sound be CLOCKED ?
Up till now I was using Behringer ultramath converter which was accepting
the ad's spdif out and reclocked with mytek's wordclock using the bnc (wordclock)
input on behringer.
Do you think like I do that now this AD's spdif output will be clocked by
simply connected to Pulsar spdif input (which Pulsar is clocked as a whole
from Mytek) ?
Second question is , if I buy an external DA converter like Benchmark DAC1
(anyone using it ?) and connect it to Paris spdif out (Paris is wordclocked
already from Mytek) will my DA sound be CLOCKED with the rest of my devices
getting clock from Mytek ?
I know that these questions might sound obvious to be answered but I wanna
be sure !!!!!
