Yes of course Apple is in business to make money. However, if what you are
saying is so true, then why did he open up iTunes music store to artists,
and independent record labels? Why take up time and space featuring and
spotlighting unsigned artists. I think he is trying to help the little guy
out. How much money and effort have the major labels and MS put out and
done to help the little guy?

Give the guy a little credit.

Oooooooooh! That looks interesting!

So how do the MOTU convertors sound compared to the RME
(Multiface) ones?

NeilWhy not just get an RME HDSP-AES32 and a Lynx Aurora 16 and be done
with it...

After a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists demonstrated
that if we drink 1 liter of water daily, at the end of a year we would
absorb more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) bacteria found
in
feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine (or rum, whiskey
or
other liquor) because alcohol goes through a purification process of
boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it is better to drink wine and talk stupid, than drink
water
and be full of shit.Lots of preamps that I don't need (that's the case with the Yammy as well).
I wonder if this has the Studio Manager style hardware that the DM2000 has.
The one major kludge in Cubase is the cue mixing. It's not a deal breaker,
but unless/until ADM is implemented in the Control Room section, it's pretty
worthless without a monster computer to run Cubase at the lowest possible
latency. I could build a dual socket Intel Xeon quad core for around
$2500.00. That would probably be money better spent.

I do that sound in other ways, but there are certain ways of
playing that I cannot do with my rig, and the thing is not
expensive, so I will probably get one. They used to sell them
at NAMM at a discount. but they put a stop to it... dangit.

What is the definition of "Christian"? For good discussion about this, see
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. One problem comes about when some mis-use
the word Christian to mean Christian-like behavior. As Lewis points out,
that definition is useless.

At the same time, many people profess to be Christians and behave in what
they would say is a Christian-like manner, but they may or may not adhere to
the true definition of being Christian. This leads to problems for
observers, because one can't tell by looking at the outside of a person
whether they are truly Christian or not...

Something that can be hard to do is to separate the behavior from the faith.
We all behave differently. Becoming a Christian does not necessarily result
in behavior change! Some Christians do not act in what some would call a
Christian-like manner. Lewis points out that this is like saying that a
"gentleman" (land owner with coat of arms) isn't behaving in a
gentleman-like fashion. Some observers look at some Christians and can only
see the behavior. Some of them are very vocal about not liking that
behavior, but have no problem with the faith itself when the distinction is
pointed out to them. Some defend the faith against all perceived attacks,
including the observed dislike of the behavior. Where do we draw the line?
Is an attack on the behavior an attack on all of Christianity?

> Your Sunni/Shiite example in Iraq, or Catholic/Protestant in Ireland, are

Human imperfections? Belief vs. behavior? Message vs. messenger? It is
interesting to see how each side claims that God is with them. Ironically,
I think this is true, but maybe not in the way some claim. If God created
everything, then isn't everything important? Would God have created
something that wasn't important?

> My simple point: generalizing leads to misunderstandings.

So true... But sometimes it would seem we can be too specific. If we look
specifically at one thing without having a context to the big picture, we
may have misunderstandings as well. (Tree?) And yet, sometimes one must
generalize in order to create a starting point for discussion. (Forest?) I
think the trick is to know when to choose the generalization and when to
choose the specific. Of course, there are many levels of distinction
between the general and specific. Put differently, there are many shades of
grey in the world...

Something the founders of the United States of America struggled with...

DougAt this point DJ, by adding a mixer like a Dm2000 which has built talk back
and Major Cue functions your days of using Cubase's cue functions..

Having a Mixer with your DAW is Major update..The pres are in the Grace preamp
901 range. We prefer them then when recording Bass and guitars...They are
Clean, but with debt and character.

That one dollar a year CEO salary sure is greedy. I guess you'll say that
his salary is just for appearances. So how many CEOs take one dollar a year
for their salary? How about taking one dollar for ten years? I'd like to
have seen Gates take one dollar a year for ten years. I guess it will always
be some kind of wrong reasoning and a jab.

I grew up, being exposed to that bacteria on a daily basis for years. I almost

OK, then here... OD on 'em if you want some more Asia:

:DThe DM 2000 mic pre's are in a different league than the 02R96. And withthe
Version 2 software upgrade, you get vintage neve EQs, UAD 1176 & LA2a comps
and an Tape saturator plugins. They sound wonderful..

But, like James M stated, the Tascam for around 5k is a a nice mixer as well,
and sounds good..

billions of bacteria of various species, including E.coli. In fact, you
have so many bacteria in your intestines that about 30% of that brown stuff
you produce when your bowels move is dead bacteria. When you think about
how small bacteria are, that's a whole lotta dead germs in your poop, which
by the way accounts in large part for the interesting aromas.

This is symbiotic relationship, not a pathology -- the bacteria help us
process our food, and we share our pizza with them. This is why antibiotics
cause diarrhea and other digestive disturbances -- we kill off most of our
tiny digestive buddies. Prolonged use of antibiotics can even allow certain
drug-resistant bacteria, like Clostridium difficile, to overpopulate and
cause serious intestinal problems.

So next time someone says you're full of shit, you just proudly reply, "Why
yes, I am, and that's because I have a healthy population of intestinal
flora."

The stock 2408MKIII converters are similar in quality to the Multiface. I
would give the Multiface a slight edge, but the modified 2408MKIII is a definite
step up. Very open sounding. Not quite up to Prism, Mytek or Cranesong but
better than RME.Gawd, I love this place!

Nuendo, Cubase SX, Protools and "Generic DAW". The tight
integration with NU/CU will never be as good with other
DAW's because of the Studio Manager software for the Yamaha
consoles that is built into the Steinberg software:

http://www.studioconnections.org/

This joint venture between Steinberg and Yamaha is one of
the reasons that Yamaha ended up buying Steinberg...

The ProTools layer (I haven't tried it yet) is supposed to
be quite close to the level of control offered by the Steiny
software, but with out the total recall capability. For
that to happen you would have to install the stand-alone
version of Studio Manager on the host platform and manage
the console settings separately.

The generic layers still offer lots of control, but the real
beauty is in the routing, cue mixing, processing, monitoring
etc.

they are, in fact, a manufacturer/wholesaler, as opposed to a
retailer - it's OK to let a scant few demo items go to the end-
user under those circumstances, but if you start selling in
volume without being licensed as a retailer, some states tend to
want to fine you for that (esp if they weren't collecting state
taxes for the state said NAMM show in question was held in).

Whoa... I'm frightened.

I have no plans for ditching Paris, but at this point, this weird
family is way beyond Paris anyway.

Way beyond.

Severely beyond.

I'd be going through withdrawal at some point that I wouldn't want to
think about without severe medication.

The Tascam DM-3200 and DM 4800 does also. The Tascam will give you 32 ins
and 32 outs at up to 24bit 96K to your computer with the FireWire interface
card. That's one cable connected to your computer! You can cascade/expand
the system with a second mixer, that's 50 touch-sensitive motorized faders
of daw control, plus the Channel Strip and all the encoders. Check out the
video!

It serves as your audio interface, DAW controller/transport control, mixer,
cue system, TC Reverbs, 4-band EQ, compression and gating on each channel,
mic pres, inserts and line inputs per ch., with total flexible routing.
It's a powerful piece of equipment that can replace a lot of pieces of equipment.

You can get a new Tascam DM-3200 for under $2500.00, and a new DM 4800 for
under 4K. I think the price is hard to beat!

P.S. I'm not a Tascam dealer.

I've set up a mail filter to shunt the bounces off to a mailbox so it
doesn't clog up my inbox. I've send an email to tech support at my ISP,
although I don't know if they're around after hours.

Using TBird on OSX for email, if that matters.

Cheers,

www.JamieKrutz.comI'll plug Mike Ofca again. If you want to see, and hear the DM 3200, it's
in the back ground of Mike's video. Check it out.

guitarist Geoff Levin is what inspired me to get one, that is, after Dick

Back to the future thing...
With senderella vst plugin you can have on Paris 0 delay subgroups mono or
stereo after vst plugins or bfore or in beetween...
The only thing needed is the EDStransfer=8,8 string to be put on Paris cfg.
Anyone willing to test along and use this or am I alone with the need and
use of this great feature ?
What you can achieve are:

1: Have a DX/VST reverb like Altiverb as a aux feed for any paris tracks
ALONG all submixes !

2: Route all your drumtracks to a subgroup and then process further with
native or eds effects.

3. Route all your drumtracks to a stereo track and then apply external eefect
only to this stereo track.

If there will be no interest though , DJ for instance is out... , I will
drop this ...

Hope I am not alone with interest in here...

Regards,
DimitriosHow are the Tascam mic pres?

So are you saying you have this ability now, or is this something you hope
will get developed by the sendrella guy?

them. I know that the original DM-24 did not have the head room the new

DM-32 and DM-48 are supposed to be greatly improved. The only way for you
to really know is to go listen to them yourself.

I believe some guy's here are using the Tascam control surfaces and I thought
they said they liked the mic pres on those. I don't know that they are the
same though.

You could try emailing Mike Ofca for an opinion. You could also go on the
the Tascam news group and see what people have to say. There are also reviews
online for the DM-3200. Mic pres are subjective so your back to your ears.

Mike's studio page has his contacts if you want to email him: http://www.innovationstudios.net/

e-bow stuff on.
Maybe they had to work hard to tame the thing...I don't know, but it sure
sounded cool.
As a side note, check out my guitar buddy's website, if you ever have any
guitar needs. (I played drums on all but a couple of the tracks).

I'd do it... for a few "k" more you can dig up an old 24 or
36 channel Trident Series 24 somewhere. No automation, no DAW
control, but they sound f-ing great and your potenital clientele
won't be likely to think: "ewww, I'm going to record through a
TASCAM???"
