Oh, you didn't say but if that's not an nVidia video card, I'd dump it =

output, more if you can. Paris loves it some nVidia/GeForce. Don't load =

Buy Norton Ghost, or Acronis True Image. Use it. Believe me now or =

Yep. The line under the house was dodgy about 10 feet from the point. He

I've been happy with this for the pristine sound.
414eb / U87
Precision 8
Distressor
or this for some guts.
Shure SM7/CAD Vx2
Neve 3104 (with some 10k boosted)
Distressor
The Big-Er mic is looking like a $3000 expense.
Not inexpensive for me.
Looks interesting just the same though.

Hi Bill,
I use 192 and up these days for live DJ and my own music minus one =
mixes.
Disk space is too cheap to bother with 128 except for internet =
bottlenecking.
A great freeware program to rip CDs or any wavs from a drive is=20

nch of MS Updates pertaining to security/internet, you'll use way less
system resources that way. WinXP Service Pack 1 is preferrable IMHO, but SP2
will work. And of course, point your browser to www.ensoniq.ca and buy all
the killer plugs. Be sure to set the path variable correctly for the new
plugs. Get Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image.
Get the system stable, do an image THEN add Paris to the equation. Install
it to C:\PARIS, not the default and you'll have less problems/things move
faster. Once it's all happy/together, do another separate system image.
But you probably already know all this....
Kerry, are you watching ? :)

Indeed, though it will double as a general purpose Linux box on dual boot,
so quite a few things will need to stay. LPT is always a prime candidate
for "OFF" these days though.

Well I've ordered 2 x 2GB. What I've ordered, including the 4GB bit, exactly
matches the specs crucial recommend, though they don't appear to speak in
brands, so I'm not sure there. If it's unstable I have a 1 x 512 pair from

Nice. I'll keep that in mind.

Yes, my last install didn't have this. Keen to try it. Thanks for the reminder.

Most of it. Never hurts to hear it again prior to an install, because there's
nothing more annoying than having to do it twice. ;o)

Yes, once people get over the hump of "what if I break it?" or "I'm no
expert" and just start boldly entering data directly into the Wiki
themselves, I'll breathe a little sigh of relief and start getting on to
about ten other things I have queued to do :D It's got lots of people
registered so I'm confident the interest's there, it's just a matter of
getting over the hump.

Tom, I would use PCDJ but I am trying to get away from bringing a
computer on gigs so I bought a little Sansa RAM drive player, which I
hope will be robust (no moving drive parts) and which holds 4 gigs. If I
were DJing I would use PCDJ. The guy who started the company is a friend
of mine and a drummer who I sometimes play with.

Here, this is more like it.
George Bush, Vladimir Putin, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs were called to an
island by an invitation that read, "very important meeting with God" - skeptical
as the 4 were, they all arrived per the instructions.
God informed them that he was very unhappy about what was going on in this
world. Since things were so bad, he told the three that he was destroying
the Earth in 3 days. They were all allowed to return to their homes and businesses,
and tell their friends and colleagues what was happening.
God told them that; no matter what they did; he was not changing His mind.
So. . .
Bush went in and told his staff, "I have good news and bad news for you.
First the good news . . . there IS a God. The bad news is that he is destroying
the Earth in 3 days."
Putin went back and told his staff, "I have bad news and more bad news. The
first is . . . there IS a God. The second is that he is destroying the Earth
in 3 days."
Gates went back and told his staff, "I have good news and good news. First
. . . God thinks I am one of the three most important people in the world.
Second . . . you don't have to fix the bugs in Windows XP or Vista."
Jobs went back and told his staff, "I have puzzling news and strange but
good news. First... apparently I'm not God. Second... God was wearing an
iPod engraved with iGod."

It sounds like you've got a good plan going.

------=_NextPart_000_0015_01C8A923.1AAC0610--Hey Tom,
How would you compare PCDJ to the Traktor line? I use the NI stuff just sorta
because. And I wrote the (really horrible, sorry) manual to Traktor 2 so
I know it pretty well. Anyway, I'd be interested.
I have been working with Stylus RMX for a couple of weeks now as a potential
live DJ/improv/dub session tool. With the crossfader in Live it's the closest
I've ever been to getting that to work.
Cool toys are good,

>Hi Aaron,
That series of Xeons didn't work on standard single CPU mobos.
They also so ran very very very hot like all the older net burst based Intel chips did.
In the time period of that CPU AMD was/is a far better choice imho.
Of course like the p4 /Xeon CPUs they are all discontinued as well as the motherboards for them.
A NForce 3 chip set based AMD motherboard from Gigabyte or ASUS were I think the best option going back in that time.
I have a morbid curiosity to try Paris on a current motherboard but don't have access to the hardware anymore.
