Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind for sure. I think I've decided,
for the time being at least, not to purchase the $139 perfect pitch course,
for now at least.

From a few posts around the net that I've found, and some comments here,
I think I have the basic idea of what is involved in perfect pitch. I've
invested $12US, which is nothing, in a little utility that throws notes at
me, so I can test myself. That should allow me to develop things if I wish.
I'll play with that for a month or so and see how

e the Matrox sysutil 1805 to
*downgrade* the Matrox BIOS so the Splash screen and mobo BIOS can be viewed
properly without upgrading to the ASUS 1017 BIOS from hell.

Install the 2 x RME HDSP 9652's in PCI slots 2 & 3.

Install the Magma host card in PCI slot #4

In the Magma chassis, the slot assignments are as follows:
1.-UAD-1
2.
3. RME Multiface PCI
4.
5. UAD-1
6.
7.
8. UAD-1
9.
10.
11.
12. UAD-1
13.

I'm playing back a 31 track project with a 98% UAD-1 resource load with the
buffers set to 512k (6ms). No crackling in the audio.........at all......and
no dropouts or glitching. System isn't even breathing hard.

This is with my system marginally optomized for audio. None of the
recommended registry tweaks have been done and none of the system service
tweaks have been done either.

Thanks again to Chris Ludwig who has been extremely helpful in showing me
the way to get this to happen.

DeejDJ,
I appreciate you passing this information on.
I also recall reading his colums in Mix and thinking what wonderful ideas
he had -wraped in a nifty and engaging writing style. Whenever I picked
up Mix, I always checked out his stuff first. When I learned that he was
one of the Paris designers, it lent a very cool vibe to the product. Its
weird, but there has always been something "in" or "be

>SSC was always very interesting to listen to and I really enjoyed his
Mix article immensely. What an amazing life really. I think Paris is
more important than homeland security though and wish he could have
recruited Skunk Baxter over to Paris, It would have been a natural.

Was it just me or did you all perceive that SSC had a huge spiritual
energy. He just seemed very connected somehow. Maybe it was having
cash that helped. hehe. I'm sure Edmund and others are mourning the
loss of a very close and dear friend. I'm reminded of Mr. Eddie Kramer
of Hendrix fame who I met and recalled that he was still mourning the
loss 30 years later. Life is TOO real.

I recall SSC saying he worked on a famous movie soundtrack (probably
many), so does anyone recall what music he was involved in regarding
mixing and such? Was he into cowbell? :-) I would be interested.
It's a shame that I didn't know while he was here.
THANKS GUYS! I also use Hammerfall/RME + Nuendo but prefer Paris for vocals. [message #66841 is a reply to message #66769] Sat, 15 April 2006 19:04 Go to previous messageGo to next message
