mhow.
Say that you monitor from your Mec's physical outputs 1 and 2 going to your main monitors.
Then whenever you try to mixdwon your song to a stereo paf or wav file , by changing the monitor level it AFFECTS also the recording level of your recording file.
In order to avoid this try to use the "dummy" digital outs for your main patchbay outs and your out1 and out2 for your monitor patchbay out.
Thus by changing the monitor level you avoid changing the volume of the recording file when mixing down.

There must have been some change in the API that it uses to scan for files. This happens even if no VST directory is specified in the paris.cfg.

I hope this update gives a lift to those who are patiently waiting for me to get this done.

It should run under Windows 8, but I have a feeling that Windows 8 is about to be the new VISTA. No one will care about it. I could be talked into installing it if there is an issue with the driver, but otherwise, I'll be skipping it.

I just tested to see how low I could get the buffers for playback with the new ASIO driver in 24 bit mode, and the best I can get is 150 samples. Not bad on an aging Ph

I'm just about to start on the control panel. I know that a lot of people are looking to use this with Reaper. I'm trying to find a way to work around the fact that Reaper closes the driver when one opens the properties dialog. I'll post more as I get to new milestones.

I was doing a win xp install on a backup hard drive and could not get Paris 2.2 to work:

Error in initializing Paris Engine. There are not enough free resources available.

I'm using Mike's EX Driver that has been working on the previous install. Seems like the 2 eds1000 drivers are ok (IRQ 21 & 22). The Mec "blinks" once but does not load.

One compromise that I'm leaning towards is having the hardware initialize when the driver is first accessed, not when it is officially started by the ASIO host application. The reason I'm thinking of doing this is that if the driver is reset by the host app, one doesn't have to wait for all the MEC modules to be re-initialized. The down side is that if one were to load up an ASIO host with the intention of using another audio interface, the PARIS hardware would still be initialized if the ASIO driver is installed.

What do you guys think of this?

What would the impact be on Paris?There would be on impact on the PARIS application. I need to fix the effects subsystem before we can run that in 64 bit Windows. It may make running Reaper and PARIS.exe a problem. Does that matter to anyone?not for me...it's usually one or the otherMike, YOU ROCK!

For me, I'd just like to be able to use PARIS again. I have 16 audio inputs dying to be used again.

On my secondary drive where I installed Win 7 32bit, I still haven't been able to get the current version of the scherzo driver to initialize my PARIS hardware.

I've been using SONAR X1 for quite a while. I like the fact I'm able to use VST instruments. A feature like that in PARIS would have been absolutely incredible. With the new PARIS ASIO driver would I be able to use my PARIS hardware with SONAR?

By the way, what will you be charging for the new 64bit drivers?

As far as I know, you'd be able to use the ASIO driver with Sonar or any other ASIO host. I'm just testing with Reaper.

I should clarify - any other 32 bit ASIO host. We need to convert the PSCL to 64 bits before I can get a 64 bit ASIO driver. I keep going back and forth on the best way to do that.

The 64 bit scherzo I have written allows for 32 bit software to connect to the driver under 64 bit windows. I should also allow 64 bit connections, but I don't have any to try it with.

I'm not sure what to charge. I'm going to have to buy a certificate to allow the 64 bit scherzo to load under Windows 7. I've got to figure all that out.

GUI, it is Harrison's emulation of their 32-series and MR-series music console which includes emulations of their EQ, Filter, Compression, Analog Tape Saturation, and Summing. They also offer plugin bundles, that integrate into the mixer. With the latest version of Mixbus, the Windows version uses VSTs, and OSX uses AU plugins, and they all use LV2 plugins.

From what I read, Harrison set out to create a virtual Harrison console with the Harrison sound. They felt to get the whole sound they had to create the whole console to get the sound not just a channel strip. They didn't want to create a whole new DAW so they looked for a DAW that they could modify to make it sound like, and work like their console. the only DAW that they could get the right to modify was Ardour. Ardour is on all platforms and they feel that it will be developed further over time and get even better. Their whole concept is mixing down on a virtual Harrison console. Some people like the sound, the speed and work flow of Mixbus.

I wonder if someday we could use it with Paris hardware as an alternative or additional option to Paris 3.0.

Definitely a noticeable difference but I imagine if you threw something like a Slate FG-X on the Reaper mix buss you could easily match the Harrison for sonics

Of course for $39.00 it's a very good deal.

edit: I decided to pop for if and do my own A/B comparisonWell I am happy to report that so far I am unimpressed with Mixbus.

Compared to Reaper it's cumbersome, verging on unwieldy.

lem with slate is the dongle, I hate dongles! I spent another day playing around with it and although my original comments still stand I have to admit it does do some things well and like you will use it as another tool in the toolbox for it's particular mojoHi Ron,

Would you mind posting the specific configuration of your system?

I'm still running Paris on XP, but would like to try it on Windows 7. Considering all the variables when building a new system, I'd like to build a machine with parts as close as possible to a system that is actually working. I would love to build a machine with the latest realeased cpu/ram, but would like to build a system that is actually compatible with the new driver.

Mike, maybe you could post your machine's configuration? I'm talking about model numbers for motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc.

Mike, I have to commend you on your efforts to keep Paris going. It's pretty incredible.

I looked at those recently but didn't get one because I was concerned that the EDS card would be too long for the chassis.
