a little dinky 2~4 mic pre mixer. One of them I'm looking at actually has a
digital 3 band fully parametric digital EQ (Edirol). One has a room EQ curve
auto correction DSP. It's sick what $400-$700 can buy, but I'm loving every
bit of it spec'ing this stuff up to use.
Martin, I may have some questions as we move along... if that's cool?

cheap cdrs and they seem to play great. i'm seeing C1 errors
as maximum 31, average 0.23, total 992 on a single cd with 0 c2 errors.
What does this mean in laymans practical terms please and do i care? I know
taiyo yudens are the bomb cd but what does this error really mean? What
if the cd is going to be commercially duplicated?
Thanks. That's my thinking. The four faders on the control are for a couple of groups
and the master fader and then I can bank through with the other sixteen.
Or maybe better yet, the control has the master fader and I select the other
three so I write automation with them (I'm not good enough to write more
than two or maybe three channels simultaneously anyway) and I can bank through
the other sixteen. For me a 32 track project is on the largish side, though
I do use a lot of groups and f/x. But still, if I had the setup I'm thinking
of, 32 tracks, 16 groups, and 16 f/x in Live/SX (that switch with focus on
the app), well, that'd be dreamy.
Here's hoping they get their PC stuff together.

system (already has 4 on it, and more to come), and in truth, more than 8 on
one isn't unlikely, esp. with other USB devices (keyboard, x-keys, thumb
drives for small project/data transfers, etc).
You can combine iLok apps on a single key (up to 100 I think), but if you
want to split them to different machines, or you aren't comfortable (and
your insurance company isn't) with all of your software investment riding on
a single $35 piece of plastic, then that's out (and it pays to be sure the
developer supports iLok's backup system - some don't); then there are the
multiple formats - iLok, Syncrosoft, Wibu, and one I have that seems to be
none of the above.
I agree that it's better than Pace and probably a move in the right
direction and probably the best option for copy protection in general, other
than honesty, but it does seem silly in a lot of other ways.

y easy to manage... I've only had to do it
once (port a license over from one key to another), but it was
pretty painless.
Believe me, it's WAY better than having multiple instances of

>HI Thad,
What re you using for an audio interface on the laptop?
Not sure on the 1710 but on most of the other current Dells they use
both Ricoh and Agere firewire chip sets. Neither will be as compatible
or perform as well as TI or Via FW chipsets.
If you machine has a express card then you might be able to bypass that
limitation by using a 2 port fw400 express card with a TI chipset.
I only see the 1720 on their web site is the 1710 a refurb?

>HI James,
I sure wish the next Gen of I-Macs or Mac Minis come with a express slot
at least. That would make them extremely attractive when it come to
expandability.
All the Air needs is either an express slot or a firewire slot and it
would be damn cool. The way it is now I got a feeling its gonna bomb.
