ple committed to Final Cut" was the headline from the news article,
if you would have read it. I posted it because it was discussed here and
some people had concerns about it. There can no longer be any posts where
anything Mac or Apple related is mentioned without you mocking, trashing
or bashing. it's gotten personal, I recommend you stop!

all of the years I have read this NG I have NEVER, not once, said anything
bad about someone personally, with one exception. The exception isn't you,
it's DC. Oddly enough, I suspect DC and I would get along pretty well in
person. Usually the people I get along with online are the same that I get
along with offline, but in Don's case I suspect he has a sense of humor that
doesn't come through in his writing. I deplore the way he conducts himself
online, though, and said so, in pretty blunt terms.
However, in your case I have never said a thing about you personally. I never
said BOW DOWN BEFORE JAMES GREAT GENIUS OF ALL THINGS APPLE and so on and
so forth. The fact is that _someone_ did that about me. Since I can't confirm
who did that I'm going to pretend I don't know the responsible party, and
it's not a huge deal anyway. My skin is pretty thick.

>Thad, it doesn't matter if you are directly or indirectly insulting, it's
getting personal! You have mocked me. If seems that you have something
to say about everything, when it comes to Mac related posts, especially if
they are from me. You have an axe to grind when it comes to Macs. You don't
use Macs, your experience is lacking, yet you Mac bash as if you know what
you are talking about. This is not about Macs, now is it?
I am no genius when it comes to all things Apple, but you are mocking me
again!

ons, and it wouldn't be accurate to imply that there's nothing to
discuss. It isn't just blind brand loyalty that leads people to
recommend what works for them.
Discussing computer systems and software is as legit as discussing any
other part of the recording chain. While it's true that a good engineer
can do wonders with almost any piece of gear, the same engineer can
likely do even better by choosing every piece of the chain.
BTW, maybe the "cool club" mentality Don brought up is behind that weird
shunning thing. Slamming or shunning others while lecturing people about
how to behave, and pretending to speak for everyone, it seems a bit
ironic but whatever. Like all of us probably, Don has plenty to offer.
For each of us, our behavior likely makes sense within the cultures in
which we were raised. So I tend to cut people some slack, especially on
message boards where all the body language and voice inflections, a big
part of meaning and intent, are filtered out.
Also, all the PARIS group people I've met in person have been great. My
guess is that most of the arguments that break out here would never
escalate like that if everyone was actually in the same room together.
Anyway, Kim and Kerry hit the nail on the head, overall. And a big
thanks to both of them for doing something useful!
And Neil has a good point about signal to noise ratio. Which I'm sure
this post isn't helping. ;^)
Cheers,
-Jamie

PS. For some reason a reply to a Mac product link you sent me in private
email bounced last week, James. Looks like the problem is between my ISP
and your email service, I notified my ISP. But basically the monitor
support you mentioned looks pretty cool but wouldn't fit on my desk.
Right now my second G5 monitor fits pretty well on its own, just off to
the side of my MIDI controller keyboard. Works for now. :^)

The Wiki is a start, but what I've done so far largely amounts to
reshuffling previously-existing data into easier-to-search formats. Same
sh*t, different font kinda deal. But while it isn't entirely without value
in itself, I see it simply as essential groundwork that needs to be laid to
support more ambitious and important advances.
