I just finished a renovation of an older JBL system that, as I told
the client was "too lousy to get excited about, but too good to
pull out". (They told me recently that was why we got the job; that we
were willing to to use their speakers rather then selling them all new
stuff)
So I finish a week of rewiring and another week of DSP programming
and it sounds as good as a big, older JBL system can sound (which
is quite decent, but today you can do a lot better, as I am sure you
know) Client is thrilled, but the main HF amp, driving both the front
and the rear delay horns in the center channel of an LCR array,
starts making funny noises. Instead of calling me, one of the
mixer operator guys goes up and swaps the amp out.
GRRRRRRR!
And of COURSE he gets the inputs swapped.
Now the delay is on the front HF and there is none in the rear, and
the EQ is totally wrong, and the client is going "this thing does not
sound right" and people are complaining to the pastor that "the
delay sounds wrong" . (good ears if you ask me)
So I get up there, and I ask the operator if he could have swapped the
channels, and he sez "absolutely not", but I connect the computer
and when I switch on the "front HF" section, the rear one lights up!
aarrgggHHHHH!
So, we get it wired back up and it sounds great again. But I have to
have a little chat with the client about warranties and not
buggering around in the rack... They offered to pay for my day,
but I said no, that's not necessary.

I got some more info up on the Wiki about your plugs, but I'm snowed under
with three overlapping project deliveries right now. So if anyone wants to
take a poke at updating more of the plugin listings for Mike's plugins,
listed at http://www.ensoniq.ca , they're linked at:

The editing/adding process is extremely fast and simple -
1) log in the Wiki
2) go to http://www.kerrygalloway.com/WikiPARIS/wikka.php?wakka=MikeA udet
3) click on any entry with a dashed underline - it means there's no page
there yet.
4) The Wiki does the heavy lifting; it will create a page editor, and once
you've added your input and hit "store" it automatically creates a page with
your entry.
5) use this as a "cut and paste" template for additional plugin pages to
save time -

rather than wasting time creating a new entry from scratch, double click on
that page, copy, paste to the new plugin page you're working on and change
a) title, b) Mike's comments, c) URL for the image, and d) all references to

6) You don't have to worry about the "Controls Explained" or
"Bugs/Peculiarities" or "Suggested Applications" entries unless you want to
- we can add more info once the basic framework is complete. Having said
that, if you have things you've discovered about the plugins, by all means!

I'm bringing a DVD with the entire virtual MAC to a friend's house sometime
next week. With any luck, he'll be able to help me compile the plugs. It's
beyond me.
As for the 24 bits, I'd almost bet anything that assuming the chips respond
to the same commands in the same way, switching them would allow 24 bits
to pass. The driver code I'm working with is at a higher level. If there
was a software solution, I think it would be at the firmware level, which
I don't have.
What chips are they? I'd give it a try.

That strikes me as pretty close to a "must have" upgrade, and if your
speculation turns out to be correct, it sounds to me like some enterprising
PARIS user with electronic skills might be able to make some side money
upgrading ADAT cards for we of lesser skills.
