tour sounds like fun.
Big Smoke? Princeton is about half way between NYC and Philadelphia and also
close to Trenton. Take your pick.

I did the same thing with a bad EDS a few years ago. I think I paid $310
for the replacement card. He buys and sells PARIS stuff a lot. I just beat
him out on a system a few weeks ago on eBay.
Funny thing was that the replacement card I purchased had no serial number
but he swears that he provides whatever warranty period he states for a given
purchase.
I was happy with the deal and everything went smoothly. Just my two cents
worth.

I have a similar sync problem with AT 1.0 even unsing BT's external routing
method...I thought I had it working propely at one time but I use AT so
rarely that I'm really not sure if it ever synced up...weird how the memory
goes when you get older

DonThanks Chris, thanks Deej. I've been planning on getting an A7V8X for a
while now. The Abit BH6 with an overclocked Powerleap PL-iP3/T is doing just
fine but I want to get all the processing power I can out of Paris and
so........ time to move on. Will the AMD Athlon read the hard drive the same
as the Intel based chip, or will I have to copy the drive to a new drive on
the new system? I seem to remember some issues with different processors not
being able to read the hard drive.
Thanks,
Rich

As far as I'm aware the only version known to work properly in graphical
mode is ver.1.3
APIt should see it OK, but it may not function properly without a clean
install. There will be an entirely different bunch of drivers used for the
chipset and onboard perhpherals for the A7V8X. Whether or not these will
play nice with everything that was installed on the system drive for the
previous mobo is a crapshoot.
My experience has been that reformat/fresh OS install is the best policy.

I choose Polesoft Lockspam to fight spam, and you?
http://www.polesoft.com/refer.htmlBrian Tankersley's routing trick on the DVD
Essentially routing the audio via an external loop (hard wiring the spdif in
/ out I think) into a different channel and applying AT in realtime and
recording the results

It would require exporting and re-importing vocal tracks (which is simple in Paris), but I much prefer it to Auto Tune.

Thank you all, you're a generous bunch, who obviously love the group. I may
host the group, but it clearly belongs to everyone here, and now many of
you actually do own shares. ;o)
In Australian dollars we're up to about $560. After donations flew in in
the first 24 hours, we've slowed to a trickle in the second 24, but it's
all good, as there's money there to fund the UPS.
So next week I'll most likely be buying one of these:
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_ sku=BR1500I
I notice it says $818 on there, but I can pick one up just under $600, so
we've already made it. I'm sure I can find that extra $20 in my pocket somewhere.
;o)
I'll leave the donations button up for a bit more, as a future option is

around $270ish, so I think it's money well spent. It costs 50% the price
of the UPS, and gives 200%+ more backup time. I'm guessing with this we'll
get a good 3 hours out of the system, and outages that long are pretty rare
of course.
Thanks again to everybody who donated. Honestly I was surprised at the generousity.
I was really only hoping to get about half what we did, so to get a figure
like that, well it's just excellent. You all rock!
Cheers,

It was my pleasure. This group has helped me out in more ways than I ever
imagined and without it my mornings (and the rest of the day for that
matter) would be a lot less enjoyable

I've got a demo that I'm just itching to try out...soon, very soon
DonThanks, I'll see if I can pick up a demo. AT 1.3 may be hard to find
anyway.

We've done everything.....and I mean *everything*.
No luck at all. Thanks Bill. I was thinking the same as far as features, but no demo for
Sequoia (not surprisingly). I may have another option to evaluate it
anyway.
For audio engine/driver performance though, there shouldn't be any
difference, but I'll have to get Sam7/8 to get on the forum to actually find
out from the developers.
No problem on testing - I know everyone here is busy.

If you have a dual computer setup, as many of us do, you can run Melodyne
on the second computer running sync from Paris MTC. This gives you similar
functionality to Rewire, or Melodyne Bridge and you can play back the Melodyne
tracks in sync with the Paris tracks.
geneWell said Don.

http://www.polesoft.com/refer.htmlno leftover beer money??? I thought part of this donation was to make sure
that Kim has the financial resources to spend adequate time in a pub so that
an outage can occur and the UPS can be properly tested.

------=_NextPart_000_006E_01C65B7C.6612D3A0--That's very generous of you Tom, but as I told Mike, I don't think there's
any need for double dipping. We've certainly reached the "desperately needed"
total, and in under 48 hours, which is excellent. I suspect a few more donations
may trickle in over the next week or so, which should mean we get the extra
battery supply as well, but either way, the main UPS will keep things running
strong through 90% of outages.
In any case, the new one, with or without additional battery, will be far
better than the old one, and the old one seemed fine until I moved house.
Anyhow, it's Sunday 4:40pm here, and I've been cooped up in the house all
day. Must be time to go to the pub. ;o) Or do my supermarket shopping at
least... ...I need to see some real people. I mean you "digital people"
are great and all, but sometimes you need to actually interact with real
life humans. ;o)
Cheers,
Kim.

Kim,
It's 3:33 AM here in Boston. It's almost like having a pint
together... I'm about done. Enjoy your evening.

news:4438aefb$1@linux...
That's very generous of you Tom, but as I told Mike, I don't think =
there's
any need for double dipping. We've certainly reached the "desperately =
needed"
total, and in under 48 hours, which is excellent. I suspect a few more =
donations
may trickle in over the next week or so, which should mean we get the =
extra
battery supply as well, but either way, the main UPS will keep things =
running
strong through 90% of outages.
In any case, the new one, with or without additional battery, will be =
far
better than the old one, and the old one seemed fine until I moved =
house.
Anyhow, it's Sunday 4:40pm here, and I've been cooped up in the house =
all
day. Must be time to go to the pub. ;o) Or do my supermarket shopping =
at
least... ...I need to see some real people. I mean you "digital =
people"
are great and all, but sometimes you need to actually interact with =
real
life humans. ;o)
Cheers,
Kim.

blues Paris (circa 1998,1999) demo??
Thanks LaMontWell there are things I wish paris could do, but this weekend I had a lightning
session recording my band for an upcoming Clash tribute CD. It was a decide
the direction/learn the song/set up mics/record day all in one day, anyway
A/Bing our sounds to the CD (which is one of the later Clash things so a
decent recording) I really do admit to thinking how "analog" what we got.
Smooth, Punchy and funky.
What I do still fret about is the Paris bounced file..is it really what we
hear while mixing?

would have to do that anyways if you changed motherboards.

I've only had problems with the USB Audiophile. All of their newer USB
stuff works great. Just get the one that has the features you need. Be
careful cuz some of the newer ones only have XP drivers.

(859) 635-5762Thanks. I'll do this when I get an AI for the other computer. Was hoping
to use FXT instead, but it wouldn't work with PARIS.

I was hoping to do the same with PARIS, but PARIS doesn't find the =
wrappers in the vst fxt subfolder. I tried the wrappers in the vst =
folder and PARIS crashed when trying to load them - apparently doesn't =
like the lan extension. Looks like I'm back to sound card shopping. =
The FXT people, Ric, wouldnt even look at PARIS, since its a "dead" =
product. I did get it to work fine with Wavelab (in a simple file =
sharing setup) using my integrated nics and a switch, but havent tried =
any other sequencers yet. Its claimed to work with most of Steinbergs =
stuff and Sonar, Acid, Logic, etc. Its currently being tested with =
Samplitude. If someone could get it to work with PARIS, that would be a =
major major. If you already have a second machine (running native to =
PARIS), you should be able to run a 3rd machine and use FXT between them =
w/o a soundcard. Also, at present FXT doesn't work with DX plugs - =
maybe with a dx/vst wrapper of some sort?

DJ,
Is it Norton? Does it not find all your plugs?
What doesn't work about it? I'm thinking of
using it instead of a sound card. My setup
won't be as complicated as yours I doubt.

Edna,
Since you are the only person I know who has this happening, when you =
have the time, could you please tell me what I', doing wrong here?
First of all, my machines are networked through a switch using the Intel =
Gigabit NIC cards and the Linksys switch at Ric recommended. I have also =
tried this bypassing the switch and just using a crossover cable between =
the two machines with no difference in the result.
The IP address of the host machine running Cubase SX is 192.168.0.165
and the server is 192.168.0.166. The subnets on both machines are =
255.255.255.0. There are no firewalls between these two machines, no =
Norton software running on either one of them
The FXT install prompts a directory path of C://Program Files/FX =
Teleport
I install to this directory on the server, launch the FXT server applet =
and enter the directory path of the VT plugins on this machine, which is =
:
C://Program Files/Steinberg/VSTplugins
Then I install FXT to my Host machine using the same default directory =
path and the same directory path for the plugins.
The FXT host wrapper does not find any plugins on the host machine and =
does not locate the romote machine.
I have all possible networking functions set ot automatic in system =
settings (none of them are disabled) so this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm sooooo stumped.

--------------020801080800090501070602--DJ --
Do you have the VSTs installed on BOTH machines? You need to have identical
copies of the VST .dlls located on BOTH boxes where FXT can see them. For
instance, I have installed DFHS on BOTH machines (cubase and PARIS boxes)
and I keep the DFHS waves on a USB drive that I move between the two depending
on whether I'm using it "local" (rarely) or "remote" (99.9999% of the time).
Am I making any sense at all? Or did I miss where you've done that already? My system drive (running Win XP) is formatted FAT 32 (I have my reasons for
this). FXT will not scan and recognize the plugins on the host machine and
does not recognize my server machine either. The system drive on the server
is formatted NTFS. All folders are being recognized through My Network
Places and the files are accessable between both machines over the network,
but for the life of me, I casn't get FXT to work ads advertized.
I have tried everything. It just occurred to me that the drives on the host
and server were formatted differently. No need to apologise. It's all good! :o)
Cheers,
Kim.

Are you using the same workgroup name, and different computer names? =
Actually, if normal tcp/ip networking is properly working, there =
shouldnt be a problem with this part. You may want to disable netbeui =
and IPX. I am setup using "simple file sharing" in both checkboxes, so =
no logons required. I am also using the Linksys Gbit switch, and Gbit =
nics, Intel on host and Via on server. I am running WXP Pro, SP1 on =
both machines with Windows firewalls off. No Norton or other protection =
programs installed, since I don't use either for internet. I have heard =
that some virus programs can still prevent sharing even when turned off. =
I used the default install paths as you did for FXT. I use the same =
location of the plugs on the server as you, and also on the host. I =
just ran the server install again, it only asked me where to install fxt =
- be sure and choose the slave install in the window. It didn;t mention =
anything about plugs. And That was all there was to the server =
installation. It almost sounds like your using the installation for the =
host on the server. Was there a window that came up on the server =
saying fxt was running after the install? In the host install, it will =
locate your plugin folder on the host and display it in the lower =
window. This where it will install the wrappers as a subfolder. Before =
it installs the wrappers, it must find the plugins on the server. It =
should prompt you in the dialog above the lower window. Then remove =
anything showing in the lower window and add the server location, =
browsing thru your network places folder. After it finds them they will =
appear in the left window above highlighted. Select any and install. =
If you can normally share your drives/folders both ways on your network =
thru "TCP/IP" it should work. Assuming your server is "running," you =
might try different paths to the plugins folder on the server in the =
Host configure applet - look in the FXT folder in program files/FX =
Teleport to access it.

Edna,
Since you are the only person I know who has this happening, when you =
have the time, could you please tell me what I', doing wrong here?
First of all, my machines are networked through a switch using the =
Intel Gigabit NIC cards and the Linksys switch at Ric recommended. I =
have also tried this bypassing the switch and just using a crossover =
cable between the two machines with no difference in the result.
Teleport
I install to this directory on the server, launch the FXT server =
applet and enter the directory path of the VT plugins on this machine, =
which is :
C://Program Files/Steinberg/VSTplugins
Then I install FXT to my Host machine using the same default directory =
path and the same directory path for the plugins.
The FXT host wrapper does not find any plugins on the host machine and =
does not locate the romote machine.
I have all possible networking functions set ot automatic in system =
settings (none of them are disabled) so this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm sooooo stumped.

What I do seem to remember is that I'm sure this has been suggested before...
that the sound was based on a particular console, but I'm not sure if there's
any truth to it. I can just remember talk of it previously, but it's a very
vague memory... can't remember who or where... doh!
I do however think there is some truth to the general analog modelling idea,
in terms of the paris DSP chips. I mean they have 4 overflow bits for starters.
I've never heard a proper run down of how the four overflow bits function,
(Chuck did explain some of it, but not all) but it seems clear to me that
it obviously influences the sound you're going to get once you go past the
zero point. Of course these chips go back to well before Paris. I think the
ASR keyboards may have been the first to have them. Whether *they* were modelled
off a given peice of gear is another question.
They certainly were designed with audio in mind, as opposed to mathematics.
Cheers,
Kim.

But perhaps it doesn't.
To be honest, if I understand what it's doing properly, I can't see why it
actually needs to access the drives at all. I would have thought FX teleport
would simply talk directly from one machine to the other, from the teleport
app on one machine to teleport on the other, app to app, rather than accessing
the drive. Accessing the drive would simply slow the process down, as drives
are slow of course. I mean why does teleport need to access the drive? I
mean other than to read the plugins off the local machine, but as far as
transferring audio data between machines surely it doesn't have to read the
drive. The audio app would read the track off the drive and feed it to teleport,
which would feed it down the network cable to teleport at the other end,
apply the effect, and send it back to teleport, which would feed it back
to the app. Can't see why it needs to access the drive... other than to
access your plugins, but that would be on the local machine surely?
Cheers,
Kim.

Perhaps there is some problem with this on the FT level, however, the
problem appears to be solely within FXT as it will not even find the drives
running on the host computer when run from the host computer.

This is on the FAT32 machine or the NTFS machine? You have RTFM'd for drive
formatting requirements I take it? When you say it wont find it, do you mean
it wont find the networked share, or it can't even read the drive, like locally?
Cheers,
Kim.

I'm to the point of being totally disgusted with this app anyway. If it
can't locate the host plugins from the host drive, I'm really not too
impressed.

>Well hopefully it does work with fat32! You might check the reqs before you
go to all that trouble. One thing, if you have your plugs installed in
different folders on the host it may get confused? The only indication in
the applet that it found the plugs on the host is that the path is shown in
the lower window, and the dialog says it will use it to install the fx
subfolder. It wont attempt to locate the server plugs till the host
location is indicated. You could try switching the server/host fxt
installations to see what happens. If it then indicates the plugin path in
the "new" host, it may be a fat32 issue.

You would expect that it would be well documented if that was the case though.
Very odd.

Paris has a rather old system. Percussive sounds change from a sharp crack
into more of a fart. ;o) It works alright on vocals though actually, as they
are much softer by nature, but there would be far better things to use, and
mostly I've only used it for pitch corrections of 10% of a semitone or something.
After processing I usually find I need to boost the level by a couple of
db.
I wouldn't try a whole band though... that's destined for dissapointment.
Cheers,
Kim.

Actually that's true I don't think you can even change the speed.
Cheers,
Kim.While you're playing back something, change the sample rate and it will
speed/slow down depending on which way you are going. Did this by accident
once. 44.1 or 48 are the only options though.

Uptown,
I think you can get an ADAT with tape speed to vary about a whole step
in either direction or 1/6th.

I'm like M McDermott. I use Line6 PODxtLive and Atomic Reactor 1-12'
(18watt) for most of my playing live. I play the Nevada casino lounge gig
thing. The Reactor will only get so loud until it begins to break up if
using a thick Les Paul sound through a Fender or Vox clean channel. A
single 12' can only go so far. When I need more clean loudness, I use a
second Reactor amp for true stereo and plenty of loud clean full sound. And
it can fill a room pretty good but I still bleed into the PA.
I think it's the combo of the POD and the special tuned Reactor amp with 3
tubes that warm up the digital sound. I also spent a good two weeks
tweaking the POD. Since I play everything from country to rock to disco to
reggae to R&B and some very lite jazz I also purchased the Line6 Variax 700
amber so that I'd have multiple guitars to choose from. The Variax is
adequate to good playability, but I like that I can push a patch on the
PODxtLive and it'll select the guitar and amp combo I want via the digital
cable from Line6 (another $34.00 or so). I've got some cash invested in
this arrangement but I've been told by many that the sounds I've created
come close to authentic, ie, Les Paul's, tele's and strats from vintage
years and acoustics. However, selecting the right POD amp patch and deeply
editing the setting is important to mimic the genre being played. I
primarily use 4 banks of 4 patches each. Bank 17 is my acoustic bank with
no amps. Bank 18 is my Les Paul bank with Marshall, Vox, Line6 Clean and
Tweed amps with varying cabinets types. Bank 19 is my strat bank with a
Sweet Home Alabama amp/gtr patch, a Pink Floyd patch and a SRV patch for
example. Bank 20 is my tele bank with a clean bright country twang and a
Keith Urban patch. Bank 21 is special stuff.
I do like the effects included with the PODxtLive. The wah is almost a cry
baby, the flanges . . . well they flange, the sine chorus is smooth and
silky, the classic distortion is like an old, old round stomp pedal I used
to own, the delays are easy to manage, especially live, where I can tap the
time just as the song kicks off, the reverbs . . . a lot of choices,
phasers, rotary, tremolos and on and on.
I use the USB on the POD for settings tweaking. I use the analog L/R out
using studio mode sent to my mackie and into Paris for recording so I can't
comment on USB recording and any latency isssues.
Sorry it's late. I've been out of town.
Sincerely,
WayneFXT is supposed to work with Win 98 and ME. those won't run with NTFS so I'm
sure FAT 32 is supported. Now if there is some issue with the FAT 32 (host)
app not being able to access the NTFS (server) app due to different drive
formats, this could explain it, but WTF can I share files between these two
drives with no problems over the network, just not using FX Teleport? My FAT
32 system drive on my Cubase machine can access files on my NTFS (server)
machine with no problem at all and my Paris machine (which is on the same
network) running FAT 32 can also access the NTFS formatted system drive of
the server machine and vice versa.
Very strange. I may just ditch these RME cards in favor of Lynx cards. I've
read too much that leads me to believe that the crackling I'm getting is an
RME driver issue. I thought the crackling had to do with overloading the PCI
bus with too many UAD cards, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not at all crazy
about other things RME either. The Totalmix software is undoubtedly the
crappiest software interface I've ever used.
Guess I'm just burned out on this and getting grouchy.
G'nite guys.............and thanks for all your help and suggestions

Hey Jamie, did you like record this, or were invloved, or did you just stumble

Have been some time posting here...
Anyway I was tempted by your posts and made my way thru Teleport.
Teleport 1.03 with chainer working !
Teleport 1.04 not working (maybe my setup)
I use Paris machine as master and other pc as slave.
Just open theserver icon on slave and then run teleport on master .
It looks on the vst folder you have vst installed in your slave and installs
wherever you say to.
I have them installed on master at program files/Steinberg/vst plugins/fx
teleport
Paris cannot see this subfolder .
Chainer can.
I tried with one instance of Solid stae logic free compressorand it works.
There is a minimum 4096 delay there but anyway it works.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
DimitriosThe contraversy begins... ;o)
So obviously yours can see the local drives? ;o)
What's going on with yours Deej? Something wierd...
Cheers,
Kim.

latency at 44.1khz, using two 8160 samples etc, so I see not much usefulness
with realtime mixing with teleport.
Might be wrong though and it would be a godsaver for something else...
ALSO the Spinaudio wrapper works too !!!

No, I wasn't involved in the production of Sarah's CD. Would have been a
fun one to work on.
I swapped CDs with her. Sent her a copy of my latest "Toward An
Attitude" solo CD last year and had been waiting for hers - it finally
arrived a few days ago.
I really like it. Excellent writing with great arrangements, playing and
production.
I don't know if Sarah still hangs out here at all but she probably has a
contact link on her web site somewhere.

>FWIW - the RME issue may be SX/Nuendo related, not necessarily just RME (may
not alter the idea of going to Lynx, but fwiw). I've been checking into why
RME cards aren't working well at low latency with Nuendo (since 3.0 this has
been the case), and found that they work amazingly well with Samplitude at
low latency, soooo....that leads me to believe it isn't simply a driver
issue. I don't have Lynx cards to confirm if they work even better with
Samplitude though. Nothing wrong with going to Lynx though - great cards,
and they do seem to perform well with Nuendo, at the moment. Just something
to look into before changing out your system.
Sorry you are having problems with FXT. I does work perfectly with multiple
NTFS systems under Nuendo, so at least there is hope, unless it's a Paris
issue.
FXT may be handling file sharing differently than Windows - it really isn't
just file sharing, it's running a dll in a local shell with a tunnel to the
host. You could get really anal about this, put a Sniffer on your LAN (rent
one from a Network systems developer) and see if FXT is sending and
receiving anything when instantiated. That would help trace down whether
it's a LAN communication issue, or FXT just isn't loading completely on one
end.

Latencies with network has been always that long...
I use Planet ENW-9606 1GB connected without switch but directly with a cable
, just two computers.
I always remember when was using FX-teleport last year had that latency to
work.
Actually Paris to work now needs 6112 samples not to loose any sample ...
Hope this helps.

>Here is my suggestion again...
If you wanna expand your Parissystem with other great plugins and routings
then use Creamware Pulsar cards.
I have three of them on my second computer.
I connect Paris (3 mecs) with the three pulsars via adat light pipe.
Latencies are:
15 samples for adat in out and 4 samples for Pulsar plugin.
If you use (as I do ) Transient designer gives you another 39 samples so
you will have 39+19=58 samples maximum !!
Most though projects will have no more than 19 samples.
What I am doing is I put a pulsar latency plug to give exact latency for
1ms Paris nudge !
So whatever pulsar plugin I wanna use I have templates for exactly 1ms Paris
audiotrack nudge ...
Thats totally acceptable, right ?
Now the interesting part.
Pulsar has not only the best sounding synthesizers out there (no vst can
come close) but also great plugz like Vinco (1176 emu) Optimaster fantastic
optimizer, Graphgic eq of outstanding quality, PSYQ exactly like a BBE exciter,
NEW professional (and expensive) Mastering pack, and great NEW guitar amp
emulators !!
Second hand pulsars are great to buy cause they are now chaep.
I bought them when they were around 1000 $ each !
Now you can finf for 350$-400$ which is a bargain believe me.
The sound is phenomenal, not Tape warmth like Paris but extremely transparent
digital undistorted sound a fine compliment for Paris.
If someone will jump on the Pulsar train I will guide him as much as I can...
Cheers,
Dimitrios

First bof all Puylsar is no latency card (well 4 samples) like Paris.
Has extremely unbelievable routing possibilities via a super enhanced Patchbay
as Paris would have groen into with version 7.2 if ever...
YTes there is an optional addon card for pulsar that gives wordclock in out
and adat sync !
For 48 channels digital optical in out you need.
One pulsar can have either (classic) 16 digital ins and outs two analog ins
and outs (24/96) and two midi ins and outs plus one spdif coaxial in out
OR (ADAT) 24 channels adat in out plus spdif plus midi
The "adat" is not easy to find so you need three "classic pulsars for total
48 adat ins and outs
6 analog 24/96 ins and outs plus 6 midi ins and outs ( yes 6 inputs and
6 outputs !)
3 spdifs.
Yes Pulsar is capable of 24/96.
One sync addon card is enouph., which has the needed Adat sync.
Also the Pulsar mixer is capable of surround mixing !, with oxford console
quality.
Rumours say that it is the same algorithms!
Hope this helps.

Dimitrios

>Hey Guys,
I just got a Emu 1212M interface with the high-end converters. Man,these
converters are fanstasic!! I can't believed that EMU sales this level of
converter for so little..Their new interface box even has soft-limit on the
converters and better mic pres.
This just makes me wonder if ID could make with with EMU and make VSt version
of Paris!!(naitive). I would jump all over this. Really, this card has the
samme converters as the Digi HD192.
I'm hearing things in my Nuendo mixes that I did not hear in my RME Digi
96 PST that it replaced.. The difference is so clear, that it's really make
me think twice about ever purchasing another RME interface.
Dedric, now I can mix with full confidence in Nuendo, like I do in Paris
. Wow!! just $200.00 card!! amazing..
Edmund if you are readingthis post. Please kiss and make with EMU, to make
a naitive version of Paris (drop the midi sequencer). :)smile..
Thanks..LaMontLOL.
Hey Lamont - Now email EMU and tell them to make an 8 or 16 I/O ADDA with
lightpipe and AES. They haven't listened to me so far.
Seems like it would sell like crazy.
Is that all it took for you to like mixing in Nuendo? ;-)
I was impressed the first time I setup an 1820M for an A/V rig - it was for
live use, so I couldn't really tell that much about the converters, but they
seemed to be very good.
Regards,
Dedric

How would this thing differ from the 0404 PCI card I just got
for $100?Wondering if I should exchange it if its only $100 more
and would give me more functionality.
I got the 0404 to use with Wavelab for mastering, but might do
the SX/Nuendo thing in the future.

different D/A obviously.
I wonder if the D/A is the same as in the 0404 card?It says its
got 24bit/192K converters also.
Little confused;just better A/D or does the 1212 come with 2
PCI cards?Wasn't sure by looking at the picture.

I dunno... works for my wife...
whack! sorry dear....I havent used 98 in a long time, but that sounds like it. I think the info
was also in the Paris optimizing for 98 in the treepad information guide.
Here is a snippet from there:
Optimizations to get faster disk throughput, minimize cpu utilization and
get more tracks, DX and VST effects in PARIS.
* Disable any applications that launch at boot-up by removing their
shortcuts from your Windows/Start Menu / Programs / StartUp folder.
* Enable / Check DMA: Control Panel / System / Device Manager for each hard
drive and cdrom. Check that the hard drive name is shown or dl the right
drivers.
* Auto Insert Notification: Device Manager / CD-ROM/Properties, un-check
'Auto insert notification'. Attention: Some CD-ROM burn programs activate
the notification automatically when they are started, without telling you
this.
* Buffer DMA Channels: If you're using an IDE drive, Control Panel / System
/ Device Manager. Expand system devices, select Direct Memory Access
Controller and click Properties. Click the Settings tab. Use the up arrow to
increase the Reserve DMA buffer try a setting of 32k or 64k.
* Disable Read Ahead Optimization: Device Manager, Performance tab / File
System. Set Read-ahead optimization slider to None.
* Disable Write Behind Caching: Device Manager / Performance / File System /
Troubleshooting tab / check Disable write-behind caching for all drives.
* Network server performance profile: Device Manager / Performance / File
System / Typical Role "Network Server"

TyroneI'm getting a USB over voltage warning on my ASUS A8V-Deluse mobo (Cubase)
system. This happened about a month ago and I was able to cure it by
clearing the CMOS. Not so this time. this happens when no devices at all are
attached to the USB ports. Is this a mobo or a CPU issue? I'm thinking mobo,
but after the alst few days, I'm starting to questiion whether or not I know
a ****'in thing, to be honest.
Sometimes after clearing the CMOS, I get the USP over Voltage warning with
an additional message that overclocking has failed. I don't have my system
overclocked. I've even tried clearing the CMOS and *underclocking* the CPU
and it hasn't helped this.
This mobo was a refurb, purchawsed from NewEgg because I couldn't find a new
one at the time I was building my new system. there have been numerous
quirky things with this board that I have attributed to
my......errrrr.....rather ridiculuously over-the-top system..
i had decided to lose the old Matrox G450 earlier today, before I started
having these problems and I found a great deal on one.
I have also found (and purchased) a brand new A8V-Deluxe (again, I got a
*real* good deal on it) but now I'm wondering if this might be a CPU issue.
(My CPU is under wqarranty thank goodness).
Anyone have any thoughts on this?> i had decided to lose the old Matrox G450 earlier today, before I started

it. If it's high, then you need to look at board level repair on the mother
board. Whether you want to do it or send it back is up to you at that point.

We've pretty much made it to the cost of a UPS. Additional funds will hopefully
go towards an additional battery pack for it if we get enough.
Just donate whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't want to go telling
people how much or anything. There's no obligation to donate at all if you
don't wish. I've been stoked with the response. Any amount is appreciated
though.
Cheers,
Kim.

should be here. I'll likely just flash the bios, load the drivers for my
Matrox P750, reconnect all my stuff and try to get on down the road with it.
Ive got mixes to do here and not a lot of time for futzing around. I'll
check the voltage on the USB connector on the old mobo afterward.
