ASUS board. This is mighty handy with Paris and they are
cheap. I did try mine with my Gigabyte GA-K8NS 939 mobo and it wouldn't
work, but it did work great with the older ASUS product.

As far as using your older rig for a VSTi host, just make sure you've got a
good ASIO soundcard (RME HDSP series is highly recommend here), 2G of RAM
and a powerful enough CPU to operate at the lowest possible latency
settings.
