running much too smoothly here and I need something to fret
about. ;o)
Actually, the thing that sorta' triggered this was my seeing 64 bit PCI host
cards as upgrades to existing Magma's and for a fleeting moment, I thought I
might be able to upgrade my existing 13 slot chassis that uses a round SCSI
cable to a 64 bit system by just getting a new host card........but
noooooo!!!!!!

Well, it's a phone/media player/PDA/camera (what did I leave out?). The
"reinvention" really has to do with the finger-touch-screen interface,
right? So we'll see if it lives up to the hype when it ships.

Heh. It's a good thing you're immune to hyped advertising because we're
surrounded by it from all directions.

They can claim whatever they want, as long as the next version is at
least as solid as the current version, further streamlined in the UI,
and no less capable. :^)

match with anyone on this NG,(or anywhere for that matter), over the virtues
of Mac/PC ..as for the "MS loving PC zealot that knocks any thing Apple
does" comment, well....you don't know me at all, and that's probably a good
thing, because if you did, you'd know how STUPID that comment was, much like
many of the comments you make regarding the (perceived, in your mind),
PC/Mac "war", which is only perpetuated by zealots like you.
GROW UP..

chrisl@adkproaudio.comUnderstood Chris, I have been very seriously thinking of getting a new Intel
Mac just to hedge my bets. Those Apogee interfaces look pretty tasty.

But is that THE Tommy James, as in the Shondell's? Love that man. He's a

Well, I use Linux every day, so there's PLENTY of attention on it where
I work! [COUNTS ON FINGERS] Hmm, I bet there are 300+ Linux boxes in
the company. It really depends what niche you're in how much attention
Linux gets. As I've said before, Linux, great for embedded and server
apps, less than optimal for the desktop. (Yes...it's getting better...
Yes...some day the average computer user might be able to figure it
out... Yes...some day Linux might support all the common hardware...
Yes...some day it might be easy to program GUI apps under Linux...)

If you're referring to Mirror Image Studios, they seem to still be using
a Mac for DP, Logic and Peak. While I applaud efforts such as Lilypond,
Rosegarden and even Ardour, they just can't compete with commercial
products... (Lilypond probably comes closest, but then I think part of
the appeal is that it's not limited to just Linux.)

I'm not going to move on from my old synths either...

Heehee, I can say that about FOSS ("free/open sores software") too!
Favorite quote from the Linux community, "you have the source, you fix
it!" Sorry man, I have a studio to run, I don't WANT to fix it. And
I'm definitely tired of the patch du jour thing...

No, it's not... IMHO, one of the biggest problems with the Linux
community (and pretty much anything GPL) is the *EXPECTATION* that
everything will be free...

Sure, sure, there's some cool stuff out there, but you can find cool
stuff on Windows, OS X, Palm, etc as well. All depends upon what you
want to see...

I sent a post to the company where I purchased this bench. I received =
the following reply:
I sincerely apologize for any dissatisfaction you have with the Tech=20
Station and I thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am having =
your complete purchase price including shipping refunded to your PayPal=20
account right away, no need to return the unit you purchased. The Tech=20
Stations are not for everyone and we do offer everyone a complete refund =
if unsatisfied...
About the quality issue, these are all made by hand as we are a small=20
company and currently do not have the resources to automate the majority =
of the fabrication so there will be slight variances but nothing that=20
should effect performance. Since your bench has some problems I can=20
only assume that human error was at play, our fabricators were very much =
overworked the last couple months - not an excuse, just a potential=20
reason - and I will be dealing with any quality control issues =
personally.=20
Thank you again for your feedback and I hope there is some way we can=20
compensate you for your trouble and I'll do my best to address any=20
additional concerns you may have.
That's a class act. I'm suddenly very impressed. II'll probably even =
give them another try when I build my dual octocore DAW next week.

I bought one back in October and have been too busy to unbox it until =
today. Terrible QC. Surfaces were predrilled exactly backwards and =
hardware assembly components were missing. It would have cost me more in =
time that it was worth to box it back up and ship it back so I redrilled =
it and went to Home Depot because I needed to finish this project, but =
I'm pissed off and would never buy another one of these. It's a good =
design once it's properly assembled though and I could put one together =
like this quick and for about $20.00 with just a little more effort than =
I spent getting this one up to speed.
